The government is the reason we have order, safety, schools, roads, and many more things that we don't think too much about in our everyday lives. There are two branches of government the Democrats, and the Republicans. Our president, Donald Trump, is a republican. He believes in more investment in our military than our schooling. We already took a pay cut in our schooling system because of that, and the money that is going towards our schools are either going to public or private schools. But is it really necessary for the government to fund private schools when students already have to pay tuition? The government should be funding more towards public schooling.
By funding private schools, what will happen to the public schools that rely on that money from the government to provide an education to the students in their community? What if the public schools close, and the only other option that is reasonably close is a private school? A lot of people cannot afford the tuition cost of private schools. The average cost of a private elementary school in Michigan is 9,000 dollars per year. When kids move up to high school the cost jumps up to 13,500 dollars per year. (Average Private School Cost, 1) Most middle class families cannot afford the tuition, and also any extracurricular activities such as volleyball, or track. The average person in Michigan makes about 73,000 dollars per year (pay scale, 1). Depending on how many kids
In 2014, 49.8 million children attended public schools; 4.5 million children attended private schools, with 2 million in Catholic schools according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. A Catholic school is a private school or education ministry of the Catholic Church. On the other hand a public school is a school funded by public funds and taxes. A Catholic education includes religious study combined with mainstream academics. A public education is just a mainstream education with no religious study added into the curriculum. Catholic schools and public schools are different and alike in many ways because of how they run and work, the many pros and cons of both, and the similarities between the two.
With so many choices it’s important to know the difference between each option. Public school is primarily supported by public funds. Public school funding comes primarily from local government sources of revenue. When revenue sources are looked at independently, state sources to schools of formula monies are the largest single source of funding followed closely by local government receipts of property tax monies. Public schools are often local to your community. They are close or close enough that the school district can provide bus services at no or low cost to you, the parents. The children who attend these schools are often your neighbors and the people your children will grow up with and develop bonds with within your community. Public schools are free to the parents of the students who reside within the district you are zoned for. These schools provide the
On the other side, public school has their own advantages and disadvantages. Public have larger class size and more students than private. The students would have more diverse culture. Public school don’t charge tuitions and aloud every kids to have educations for their future. Public receive Federal funds from the government. Teachers are pay much better than private school and this give them better investment in their careers. Students are also provided with transportation and all teachers are certified educational instructors (Elizabeth 1). Public school gives students a free bus transportation that parents won’t have to pick them up.They also have more curricular activities and programs (Pros and Cons School Attendance 1). Disadvantages are that they have follow government rules for teaching the students. The public school cannot make their own decisions for the student what they want to learn. The government keeps a lot of information from the parents, students, and teachers to know about. There are harder choices to which you can hang out with (Elizabeth 1).
Charter schools are public schools that are open to any student who wishes to attend regardless of where they live. They are tuition free and allow parents or community groups to reinvent the public school system. Charter schools are governed by each local community which usually includes teachers and parents rather than by a district. These public schools operate separately from the school district’s central bureaucracy. Since it does not operate by a central bureaucracy, it allows teachers to have more freedom to create its own educational program and communities have the ability to shape their local school to a school that they themselves approve of.
Louisiana is ranked 48th in education in the United States by the American Legislative Exchange Council. We can see this in the poorly funded and low resourced schools we have here in New Orleans. There is a great divide in what students are receiving a quality education. In New Orleans the public schools often have ninety percent or more students who are African-American and Latino. The public schools are mainly chartered and filled with young, white, Ivy League educated teachers who have made a two year to serve underprivileged students. According to the Washington Post, 79% of New Orleans public school students attend a charter school– the highest percentage of students in charters in the United States. On the other end of the spectrum New Orleans private schools are predominately white (with exceptions like historically black St. Augustine). These students not only receive a well-funded education, most of them came from families that have resources to help them if they needed it. In this paper I will share my experience of switching from attending a public school to a private school and then argue why the disparities between them are unfair.
act 2006, every child aged between 3 and 4 years is entitled to have free early years education for those 2 years. It is limited to 15hrs each week, over 38 weeks in the year. The entitlement is funded
Almost 90 percent of American students below the college level attend public institutions, which are funded by local and state taxes, not tuition. Most of those children who do not attend these public institutions, attend private schools of which close to 80 percent are religiously affiliated (USIA Chapter 6). Other educational possibilities include private schooling which is not religious or home schooling. Because only military academies are run by government officials, the US government only guides the public school systems as to what they should do about funding (USIA Chapter 6). It can be said then, that in those school districts with less money, and more poverty, the schools are destined to fail.
Thesis: Private school students are more likely to have a better viewpoint in learning, a firm stance in education, and will be more successful in colleges than of public school students.
For years, there has been debate over home schooling and public schooling: therefore, I will compare and contrast classroom ratio, environment, and social skills of the children.
Imagine a student falling asleep in class or even not completing their class work in time because they were too tired that day. The teacher comes up to them and questions why they are sleeping during the class. Tons of students in public schools would use the same old excuse saying that they did not get enough sleep the night before. Sadly, this excuse is true for most people who use it. How come it is true most of the time? That is because these students stayed up late at night completing assignments that took time for them to do, and then having to deal with the terrible pain of waking up at five or six in the morning to make it on time for school. Surely enough, this type of situation occurs more than once for students, creating terrible effects for them to have to deal with. This is not just happening to students at a couple schools, but for students in schools throughout the nation (Dean). This is because most high schools prefer the starting time to be earlier in the morning not realizing the consequences it causes. Evidence shows students are severely sleep deprived to this. The “ZZZ’s to A’s” Act, proposed by the National Sleep Foundation, is an act that would require schools to begin at later times than their current times (National Sleep Foundation). Being that students are not the only ones being affected by this problem, this act would be a God send to students and teachers alike since they both must suffer the various consequences of sleep deprivation. By having
Hard to find someone who really believes that public schools can give as good results as private schools. Is it true? Our public education can give as good results as private, and also fulfils a social function without public funding, it would be impossible to achieve: to serve the entire student population and allow gaps in educational inequality begin to be reversed.
Education, the action or process of teaching someone especially in a school, college, or university. () Education is a valuable asset to the lives of many individuals all across the world indefinitely in the grades of Kindergarten to twelfth grade. The type of education varies on the location of the school whether it is an urban school, rural school, suburban school, religious school or even a private school. Educators work on daily basis to create an impact on students who they have encounters with. Having different school types to choose from is beneficial to a student as well as the student’s family.
First off, what is a public school? “Public schools are schools that are provided by state and federal funding. Ninety percent of the children today in America attend public school” (Chen). But when considering public versus private school, parents will have to lay out all the
Public and Private schools differ in terms of tuition rates as the government regulates public schools and the private school regulates its own rates. Public Schools depend on government funding and citizen taxes to functions as it is a public entity. Citizens from each county pay their respective taxes to fund the schools in their county. As a result, it is a collaborative effort of all citizens in helping their children receive free schooling. Much of the population represents minorities and poor people who cannot afford private education. In addition, they also receive benefits such as meal tickets and subsidies as an incentive to attend public school. On the other hand, private schools must rely on student tuition to provide schooling for students and sufficient wages to teachers. These “schools compete for cash-paying students” as they do not receive government or citizen
The issue of whether private education is better than public has been debated for many years. Strong advocates of public education feel that children grow and progress better in a mixed environment. Although most private educational institutions do not harbor racial discrimination or discrimination against sexes, they do not have certain classifications that may not suit the masses. For example, a large number of private schools are religious based. Additionally, private school education is not paid for by the state, thus children who attend these facilities generally come from a financially stable background. The danger in this environment is that student
