In about a decade, self driving cars have transformed from a distant, futuristic dream to a close certainty. As people begin to acclimate to the idea of self-driving cars, developers, such as Google, Tesla, Audi, and Nissan race to create the best, road-ready, consumer-ready vehicles that are able to navigate our streets independently.

While I believe will soon be widely adopted by the young and old alike, the reality is these cars will be more expensive and may be difficult for your average joe to afford. Studies have shown some consumers are cautious of handing over control to a computer, however studies have also shown they are quick to overcome these fears when that have even a brief, positive experience with the technology. With developer companies investing and pushing for this technology, it is simply a matter of time before everyone and their neighbor is familiar and comfortable in driverless vehicles.

The noticeable advantage of self driving cars is that they allow for a shared vehicle ownership model, whether ownership is shared between companies, cities, or individuals. Although cars are one of the most expensive things a family might own, 96% of the time, they stand idle in driveways, parking lots, and garages.
