Should school officials and police officers be allowed to search through students phones? School officials and police officers should be allowed to search students phones. School officials and police officers need to be able to check students phones, so they can keep everyone safe. Some people think that school officials shouldn’t be able to search students phones, instead it should be the parents problem.
Kids need to watch what they post online. For example, If a student post something online about bullying school officials should be able to punish them for it. Fourteen states have passed an anti-cyberbullying law, so if the student is punished by school officials first, they are less likely to get in legal trouble. Schools should get to punish kids for misbehaving online, because it might save lives. In addition, Kids should not be misbehaving online. Kids should know what is right and what is wrong. According to Joseph Maneen, “If the students have done something worth taking the social media password, of course the school should take it.” Kids need to do what is right online, because it might ruin their reputation. Furthermore, Schools and Police officers should be able to check people's phones because it can help keep our cities safe. According to the Detective Chris Grider, “Checking phones helps to establish

According to Akash Bagaria, “If the device is not school-owned and is not being used on school campus, schools should not monitor a student’s online activity. If an issue arises, the student’s parents could manage it.” However, it is still important that school officials and police officers need to check people’s phones because their job is to keep people safe. According to California resident Chris Eddy, “The police now have better means to find out if you’re guilty.” Posting good things online can keep you out of
Privacy has always been an issue in classrooms, but now with more and more students having access to a cell phone with a camera built in, these issues are becoming more apparent and with a greater intensity. Cell phones with a camera, also known as a “camera phone”, provide students with an opportunity to quickly send an incriminating or embarrassing photo to a vast number of people in a short period of time. This is not just a concern for teacher’s privacy, but it is also a concern regarding bullying; students now have access to an entirely new form of bullying by sending pictures or texts to the person that is being bulled. Privacy issues are inevitable, and will always be a problem in a school setting; therefore, privacy cannot be the sole reason to ban cell phones from school.
Students have rights just like everyone else, even if they are in a school environment. It can be humiliating and dangerous to a student's well-being to have their property searched and violated. Some students are even willing to sue if they feel they were unjustly searched. Dear faculty of high schools across America I implore you to think before you decide to search through and violate a student's cell phone; I believe that this practice is harming students.
Today in our schools every few weeks the school board sends in cops to check certain lockers and just around the school with dogs trying to find illegal substances. There are many argument to whether this a good or bad thing. Do you think these searches should continue?
In school systems today safety is the top priority that they spend most of their time enforcing rules for this specific reason. After hearing about the Columbine school shooting I can only imagine the pain their parents felt while receiving the news. If the students had access to their cell phones could this have turned out differently? Dr. Stroka talks in a school safety video that you have to put a face on school safety and most people have forgotten what that’s about (Ken Trump). If students have access to phones it betters the chance of getting help right away in life threatening
Should schools and officials be able to go through one’s phone for information? I don’t believe that schools and officers have the right to be able to go through a suspect’s phone for information about something, I believe it is a violation of privacy, and ignores the fourth amendment which protects people from random search and seizures. For example, they could have embarrassing or funny personal photos and videos with a friend that they wouldn't want anyone watching or seeing. In the article “Phone Patrol” it states “People could have....pictures in there, like of their girlfriends, that they don’t want somebody else to see, and it would be an invasion of privacy not only for them, but the other person also.”, and I believe police don’t need to be snooping through a suspect's personal information and pictures because they are invading one’s privacy. In addition, schools shouldn’t be able to stalk and look at a student's social media and then go through that students stuff. If there’s a situation, the school shouldn’t get involved, they should let the student’s parents take care of that. In the article “Password Protected”, it says “Schools do
If officials are allowed to check personal belongings without a warrant, it may save many people's lives. For example, when students post something personal or inappropriate about someone else that can lead to cyberbullying. “Fourteen states have passed anti-cyberbullying laws, and other states are considering them. If a school catches a student bullying someone online before the police do, the student is less likely to end up in legal trouble,”Said Joseph Maneen. This says that officials can help stop cyberbullying before it goes too far and ends up illegal. In addition, When people post something or say something you don't like, it can lead to a physical fight. “If the students have done something worth taking the (social networking site) password, of course the school should take it,” Peter Ivancic, a teacher from Haverhill, MA tells us. Peter is trying to explain that problems can be solved earlier by officials checking the phones.
The police shouldn’t be allowed to search a cell phone of anyone they arrest without a warrant.
I think phones should not be allowed at school. Kids should not have their phones at school because people use them to spread rumors and misinformation.
Do officials have the right to go through a person’s phone without a warrant? Officials have all the rights in the world to search a student’s belongings no matter what the case is. Though, some people believe officials should not be allowed to go through student’s phones without permission, as it is an invasion of privacy.
Should officials be able to look through private device's? Officials shouldn’t be allowed to use information they obtained from devices or networks because it is an invasion of privacy and unconstitutional. But, if you do allow officials to use evidence from devices, they can protect the community much more efficient.
It is not the Principal's responsibility to go through the kids phone. In addition, If a kid is talking bad about some other kid on the internet and it is not at school the principal should not go through the kids phone because it was off school property. Schools do not have the right to monitor what students do online outside of school. I think that if something happens off school property that the principle should not be able to go look through the kids phone. The kids parent is responsible for the kid off school property. Furthermore, Police officers should have a warrant before they go through
School and police officials do need to have the authority to check students’ phones in order to keep the community safe. if a fight breaks out at a school , and a student has recorded it and posted it, the principal should not be able to take action. “Others think that punishing students for what they do on the web is the responsibility of parents, not schools.” (Password Protected).I think that schools should never. Have the right to check a student's phone for anything because, students parents. Might have little dirty jokes sent from their parents and, if a school employee finds that the student could get in so much trouble for
Should schools or police officers be able to check people’s phones to “prevent” bullying or crimes? Some argue that schools should be able to check students’ phones to lead them away from cyber bullying. Officials, and officials only, should be able to use information from private devices or social networking sites in order to protect the community. If the police do it, they may be able to prevent crimes.
Do you believe that teachers should or shouldn’t be allowed to go through students phones? Do you believe that teachers and police officers should be allowed to go through people's phones without permission by the owner of the phone.Teachers can abuse their power to look through a students phone easily if they're allowed to
