There are many women that work hard and earn less than males because there women Alot of people think it’s unfair and some think it’s resonable. Woman construction workers only get paid 77 cents for every dollar earned by men it might not seem like a lot off but it adds up over time. Also race depends on how much the people get paid. In 1963 the Equal pay act was passed and it helped a lot of women get paid more but it still wasn’t enough. Women lose alot of money once it adds up they end up losing “nearly $5000,000 in earnings over the course of her career”. Lower earnings make it harder for women and their famililes and it should not be that way they should be able earn equally for what they have worked for. This is a bigger problem
First of all, the gender pay is a real problem in the world, despite what many think. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the gender pay gap is “the difference between the amounts of money paid to women and men, often for doing the same work”. This is important because many people think that the gender wage gap does not exist, even though it clearly does. Another reason why this is important is because many people argue that the gender wage gap exists because women have lesser-paying jobs, when a lot of the time it happens between men and women working the same job. Many people do not realize what the gender pay gap actually is, and they form an opinion of it before they know what it really is.
Women continue to face disadvantages in the workplace in regards to not receiving equal pay as well. There are many instances where women have the same or more qualifications to do a job than their male counterparts but do not receive the same pay. This difference in pay is not only related to gender differences but also racial differences. Women employees of different racial backgrounds tend to earn less money than their white female and male counterparts. Many women of color often face discrimination when applying to jobs and are overlooked for a position despite having the qualifications to do the work. When they are hired to these occupations they are not receiving the same pay as their white female counterparts. This double bind that minority women face within the work place continues to lead to economic hardships. Regarding women in the workplace in general, due to society’s high regard for men they are often not promoted to positions of authority or receive equal pay because people assume that women are inferior workers. Women of color make even less than that, Latinas making the least, only 54 cents to a white man’s dollar. The Latina wage gap is largely ignored by the media because of the complicated politics of racial and gender based discrimination.

Since the time the United States was founded, women were not given the same rights as men, resulting in many women struggling for years. In the second wave of feminism, “Feminists worked for the Equal Rights Amendment, the Equal Pay Act, the addition of sex discrimination to the Civil Rights Act and other laws that would guarantee equality” (Napikoski, 2016). Men were the only people for many years to have jobs to maintain the family. I believe because women were so late in gaining equal rights they, till this day they are underpaid. It is unfair that both sexes can have the same qualifications and job and yet women still fall short in salary pay. Even when it comes to promotions bosses tend to choose men because it gives their company a better imagine, a more “manly” image. A man in front of a company is said to show more strength and business knowledge rather than a women. People tend to be somewhat skeptical of what a women is capable of handling in their jobs as well as in a everyday life situation. Women aren’t as involved in meetings are given any challenging tasks because women are seen as incapable to handle it. During the hiring process there tends an abundance of discrimination. Women are typically chosen for women-based jobs like cleaning or nursing. Men are typically chosen for manly jobs like business and construction. Women able to to the same jobs so it’s not like they don’t try, they just aren’t very likely in getting the job. When it comes to the hiring process sexism tends to be programmed into people 's brains.
A black woman makes 64% of what a white male makes and HIspanic female makes 54% of that same White male. Again these are numbers but when put into actual perspective it's a lot more horrible. However, women and men have begun to see this a problem and started to work together to make a change. Women in the workforce should earn the same pay as men because they work hard to get an education, their race should not play into an effect, and they support a family.

For many women they feel that they are doing the same work as men, but not receiving the same pay or compensation for the same amount of work. It has been show that women do not make the same amount as men for the same work. Also it has been show that many people have not received jobs because of their race or gender. I feel that if someone is doing the same work as another person they should be getting equal pay and someone should not be denied a career opportunity if they are qualified because of their race of gender. We as women go against lots of discrimination based on our genders and that needs to be stopped. Pay inequality isn't at all new news, it has been a problem for a while and women have had to work harder just to earn the same amount as their male coworkers.
