Teaching Philosophy Statement
I am not one of those people that knew absolutely for sure from age five that they wanted to be a teacher. I have thought about many different professions during my educational career and have changed my mind at times in deciding the best route to take. However, teaching has always been something I knew I would enjoy doing. I would often tell my teachers in school that I would like to be an educator, but this statement usually left me with looks of shock and responses that I could achieve so much more in my life. I would find myself very confused; wondering why these people picked a profession they believed to be so unimportant and meaningless. Regardless of their objections, I have continued to want

Students vary greatly from one another depending on their age, gender, and socioeconomic class. There are also differences in students in the way they behave and perform tasks in school. Some students are outgoing, while other students are shy. Some children may keep to themselves in class and rarely talk, while others take the role of leaders, asking questions and communicating their ideas freely. Like the teacher I observed for my Education 210 class, I feel the reason for these differences in attitudes and opinions rely a great deal upon the students’ environment. The quieter students may behave the way they do because they are abused at home. Or maybe they simply have parents who reinforce that proper behavior consists of being respectful and quiet in class. The more outgoing students may live in a home environment that encourages them to have confidence in themselves and to ask questions to answer their curiosities.
Regardless of the factors that determine the nature of students, I feel the purpose of education is to make sure every student has the ability to live up to his or her full potential. I also feel every student should have the chance to learn and excel through education. When I become a teacher, I will make sure each of my students receives the knowledge they need and has the opportunity to grow during the learning process. I never want a student to leave my classroom and say, “I didn’t learn anything today.” I hope for
The Purpose of Education has been a very widely talked about subject within parents and students, but what really is the answer to this much asked question? I believe the purpose of education is to get useful personality traits through your experiences in school and to be morally ethical. In the article, “The Goal of Education is Becoming” , the author, Marc Prensky talks about his beliefs in education for our young children, “The real goal of education, and of school, is becoming—becoming a ‘good’ person and becoming a more capable person than when you started” (Prensky 3). The author clearly describes that the new generation has to “become” a better person than how they started and find who they really are. Additionally, the students can
I have always wanted to become a teacher. From playing school with my little sisters, to volunteering a summer camps and elementary schools, there is not better feeling, to me, than to know that I have helped someone to accomplish a goal and develop better as a person. I think that there is no better way to impact the lives of other people than to become a teacher. As a teacher, not only will be able to affect the lives of these students from day t day, but I can also make an impact on the life of each child and hopefully their family as well.
I feel that the goal of education is to open up a world of possibilities for learners. The purpose of education is to show someone that they have the ability to do and be whomever they want to. Education is simply there for bettering oneself and one’s world.
Choosing a career is not an easy task. As a child, I never knew what I eventually wanted to grow up to be, but in the back of my mind I would always say a teacher because I come from a long history of teachers in my family. One of my grandpas was a high school math teacher along with coaching the football team. My aunt is an elementary school substitute teacher specializing in special needs students, while my uncle is a high school history teacher. While, my father is a physical education teacher who has taught at both the elementary and high school level. Growing up around so many teachers made me think I was destined to be a teacher, although at the time, I was not passionate about it, until my senior year of high school. Senior year I decided to take a child development course where I had the opportunity to volunteer daily at an elementary school. I quickly fell in love with the students and decided that inspiring young children to succeed was my calling. It was this opportunity that made me decide that becoming a teacher was my destiny. Last year I declared as a Child and Adolescent Studies (CHAD) to peruse my dreams of becoming a teacher
This is because of the awesome hours that come with being a teacher. As long as you do your job at work, you work approximately from seven to three, Monday through Friday, and have summers off. It seems like a pretty sweet gig to me but regardless of the lifestyle, I could never picture myself as a teacher. I just couldn’t put myself into the shoes of an educator and that is what threw the idea of becoming one out of my head. I continued to share this belief until very recently however when I began to speak to the individuals I mentioned earlier. They all gave me a new, unique point of view to the previous assumptions that I had on the field and I appreciated this immensely. All of the people I interviewed said that once they started to take an active role in the classroom (being the teacher is about the most active role you can play) they found their field of work to be actually fun and somewhat of a good time. Every single person in my study loved their job and my favorite quote concerning this has to be “Make sure you love it because you’re not in it for the money.”(Medley) I honestly would enjoy working a career where I could care less about the financial benefits and embark in an occupation that truly interests me. However, I don’t think that I could do that to myself because of my drive for success.
From the time I was in third grade, I wanted to be a teacher. I was so confident about my future career choice that I was often reminded that I was young and should explore other options as well. While I listened to the advice, my confidence never wavered. In fact, my desire to become a teacher grew stronger as I became older and gained more experience in educational settings.
The purpose of education is to teach children knowledge to be successful in life. I will meet with each of my students in the first couple weeks of class and find out what’s important to them and what will be most useful to them in the real world. Once I learn that I can mesh it with the content requirements, which might be difficult but is important to show the students I am here to help them be
Aristotle once said, “The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching.” Teaching enables students to gain the intelligence needed to excel in life. I believe that a teacher’s philosophy of education is a crucial role in his or her approach to leading students on their educated path. A philosophy of education is the set of beliefs that every school and every teacher stand behind. The certain philosophy that one chooses provides the answers to many vital questions, such as the purpose of schooling, a teacher’s role, and what should be taught in the classroom.
In our centre self-review report on play pedagogy in relation to Lion Kindergarten’s teaching philosophy statement we will be underpinning the theoretical ideas around play and what play is and showing a critical understanding of play and playfulness. We will be identifying play in relation to children’s learning and development, and teaching within New Zealand early childhood settings. We will then be identifying and critically discussing two aspects of play that are particularly important to the centre, and examine their strengths and challenges with reference to contemporary play theory, curriculum planning, and images of the children, of children and learning. These two aspects include relationships and the notion of free play. And we will be incorporating theoretical perspectives of play to support the evolving of the centers philosophy in relation to experimentation around their pedagogy of play.
The purpose of education is to provide students with a knowledge base that will enable them to achieve their goals. These goals will vary from student to student, but an education will enable students to reach their highest potential. Education is a gift and a privilege that all students, no matter their social status, race, or ethnic background, should receive. Education should better society as a whole, and this can only be accomplished through the hard work and dedication of teachers.
All my life, I’ve had trouble deciding what I want to be when I grow up. I’ve wanted to be pretty much anything you could think of, a chef, a police officer and even a doctor. But, one day I had an epiphany, I thought why not be a teacher. In school I was never a “good” student and by the time I was a junior in high school my teachers had already given up on me. However, I didn’t let the lack of support stop me from what I needed to do to succeed. I want to be a teacher because, I want to be the teacher I never had going through school. Students are the future of the world and by being a teacher I can help impact and mold A piece of the future.
When I was a little kid I always wanted to be a teacher. Everyone just assumed I would grow up and pick a different career, because thats what children do. I went through a few phases where I wanted to become a cop because I thought it was cool. Or wanted to be a doctor and save peoples lives and be rich. For some reason teaching always stuck with me. I would always teach my stuffed animals ever since I could remember. It wasn't until I started to get older and the dream never changed that I realized why I wanted to be a teacher. Although teaching may be a hard job, it is one of the most rewarding jobs knowing that you helped shape a Childs life.
Since the beginning of high school, I have always wanted to become a teacher. Back then, I always thought that becoming a teacher would be easy. I never thought about all the work that had to be put in to become a teacher. The only things I knew were that it was going to be hard to find a job as a teacher, and I also knew that a teacher’s annual pay was not that high. At first, I thought becoming a teacher would be easier than most jobs. Now, after two years in college and learning more about becoming a teacher, I know that that is a false statement. Now, I know that becoming a teacher takes a lot of work and time.
I believe that every student is different but special in their own way. Every student should be instilled with good values so that they can grow up to be good valuable men and women. They deserve to be educated in a positive environment where they feel safe, comfortable, motivated and engaged in their learning. As an educator, I will work hard to guide and help prepare life-long learners so that they can choose their future decisions wisely. I feel education is very important in every aspect and the focus should be on more than just the subjects being taught. I think teaching involves one to go above and beyond the basics. Since each student
Never once did I consider another career choice for myself; I always had one career in my heart and to become a teacher. In fact I always felt like I have been preparing for the teaching profession my whole life. As a little girl I would always play pretend with my sisters and make them be my students while I “taught” them. If they didn’t want to play teacher with me, which was often the case, I would play with my stuffed animals and Barbie’s and pretend that I had a whole classroom. Even now as I share my education and career goals, people me that I will make a great teacher and I really hope I live up to their expectations!
