The American Red Cross is a service organization that provides aid for disaster/crisis as well as other non-disaster related services to the communities of America. The American Red Cross the premier United States based aid organization providing for people in the times of need, whether it is a disaster or planning and partnering. Shining light on an exemplary organization that strives to serve and provide during times of disaster and times of calm. The American Red Cross has been there for America since 1881 when Clara Barton formed the organization to assist people in America that were in need of aid in the time of crisis. The American Red Cross is also embracing the community and technology by using drones to perform various difficult tasks when needed. According to ASEE.org (2015),The " American Red Cross and other emergency response stakeholders have released a report saying that drones have plenty of applications in disaster relief. The report outlines some of the most promising uses for drones, including: reconnaissance and mapping; structural assessment; temporary infrastructure and supply delivery; wildfire detection and extinguishing; high-rise building fire response; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive event; search and rescue operations; insurance claims response and risk assessment." The American Red Cross is looking towards emerging technology and working those that have it to provide an important use of the technology. This technology is primarily used by the Government and hobbyists by embracing this technology the American Red Cross can leverage the technology to expand the services they can provide during a disaster. The American Red Cross does more than just provide aid they go out to the community and educate on many topics such as first-aid, water safety and CPR.
