THE EFFECTS OF THE NDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION ON SOCIETY
The Industrial Revolution changed the ways by how the world produced its goods. It was the era when the use of power-driven machines was developed. It also changed our societies from a mainly agricultural society to one in which industry and manufacturing was in control. This had many effects on people’s lives.
The Industrial Revolution first got its start in Great Britain, during the 18th century. It was inevitable that the country with the most wealth would lead in this revolution. After it adoption in England, other countries such as Germany, the United States and France joined in this revolution. During this time there were many new technological advancements,

The Revolution also affected children. When coal became necessary to fuel steam engines, many people were needed to work in coal mines. Children were hires to go into narrow passageways and pick coal. Boys and girls were put to work doing dangerous things that children should not be expected to do. Children also worked in factories. Their small hands came in handy to retrieve broken threads in machines, however many children lost fingers while doing this.
The Industrial Revolution had many negative affects on people. Many people worked from home before the Revolution. Raw materials were delivered to people's cottages and the weavers would process the wool in their homes. This was an advantage for the workers because they would make their own schedules and work at their own pace; however, for these same reasons, they were disadvantages for business owners. The Industrial Revolution made it possible to move the jobs from cottages to factories where they business owners can oversee the workers and account for their time. Some people considered the factory jobs a blessing while others considered it a hardship. The work day was long, conditions were unsanitary and food was sparse.
Another negative effect of the Industrial Revolution was on the environment. The factories and industry has increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Manufacturing towns were built near
The Industrial Revolution began in England during the 18th Century. This revolution started out in England, and spread throughout Europe and North America. Many technologic and agricultural advances were made during this time. Factories became the main source of production, rather than in home workers. This resulted in many people living in rural areas to move into industrialized cities, which was called rural to urban migration. The Industrial Revolution started in England due to its supply of natural resources, advanced technology and inventions, and political freedom.
The Industrial Revolution had positive outcomes of more jobs, but these new jobs brought some positives but many more negatives for the people. Child labor today is not as bad as the issue was centuries ago, but it still affects millions of children all over the world. The use of children in the work force was like putting a newborn rat in a maze and trying to make it find its own way
One negative effect of the Industrial Revolution was the poor working conditions in factories which were a big problem during the Industrial Revolution. Many people worked in factories, which had very tight spaces and poor lighting. Many
However the industrial revolution was not all good. The working class had no other option but to turn up at the factories for work. The factory system resulted in over-crowding and unhygienic conditions and also the development of slum areas. Many factory owners who needed cheap, unskilled labour, profited greatly by using children and women to run the machines and because they were small and could fit in tunnels as well not only that they were more suited for factory life because they could adopt more quickly and easily than men. By the age of 6, many children were already working twelve hours a day in factories. These children had no free time to do anything plus they earned low wages. Hardly any of the children went to school they had to work in factories to earn money. Quite a lot of the people who worked at factories got sick and died because of the toxic fumes in the factories. While others were severely injured because the machines didn't have safety guards so many children got killed by machinery when they fell asleep and got caught up in the machines. Many of the children who were orphans, hired by the employers would
All in all the industrial revolution had a positive effect on society, accomplishing things many do not realize and creating a turn of events that would put the USA as the world power. New farming methods meant better diets, which lead to lower death rates. Efficient and useful inventions, as well as machinery, made it easier for people to work, and made more job opportunities, as well as enjoyment in the workplace. More and easier ways of travel became commonplace, such as railroads. In addition, as cities began to grow, streetlights provided safety at night, and our economy grew greatly. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because it caused children to be used as workers and made school
The use of children sped up production and made the pool of employees much larger. The benefit of child labor for the workers being able to have more people in the factory. The disadvantage was the fact that children are young and should be spending their time learning and playing opposed to operating machines for 16 hours and never attending school (Document 1). Some communities made child labor an option and enforced education at the same time. These communities were known as working societies. They focused on making nice conditions for children that worked. They took good care of kids and paid them in exchange for work. Safety was a big concern so death rates were very low (Document 5). However, not all companies treated their kids well. Some factories abused child labor, allowing kids as young as three years old to help out (Document 9). Politicians are managers claimed that the kids were just fine and even benefited from working. “I have visited many factories, and I never saw a single instance of corporal chastisement inflicted on a child. They seemed to be always cheerful and alert” (Document 4). Child labor was a debatable topic during the Industrial Revolution because many people depended on it but many other people wanted it to stop because it was
The Industrial Revolution was a long, slow, uneven process in which production shifted from simple hand tools to complex machines. The revolution began in 1750, in Great Britain, where many new sources of power began to replace humans and animals. It started with improved methods of farming, a population explosion, and new technology. It was a success and innovated many aspects of life. However, to get to all the good, the Industrial Revolution had to go through some bad.
One example of why the Industrial Revolution was negative is that some of the factory workers were tired and it would cause them to finger and sometimes even limbs. This was horrible because they were working long hours. They would work up to 16 hours a day, with no break. By the time they would work on the machines they would be so exhausted that would lose focus and they would chop a finger or limb. This example shows the economic effects of the Industrial Revolution were negative because people would work long hours then working in the machines they could run a high risk of accidentally cutting a finger or limb off. This affected the workers because if the were to cut a limb off they would be able to do a lot of activities that they used to do. However the Industrial Revolution was mostly positive because assembly lines were invented. This was good because it sped up the rate of what cars were made. This effect is positive because before the assembly line it took a long to put something together. Also, factory workers were finishing things faster and they were making money for companies and leaving the customer happy too. This left the customer happy because they got something that way wanted fast and easy. For example, in image #4 they show an assembly line with workers putting together the cars. This is good for the customers because they are happy with the product and the factories make money
The Industrial Revolution that began in Europe changed society in many ways. Some of these changes were positive while others were negative. These positive and negative effects affect things such as the living people’s living conditions. Living conditions like the safety of the workers are negative but others like more jobs being available are positive.
The Industrial Revolution is the name given to the movement in which machines changed people's way of life as well as their methods of manufacturer. It brought three important changes: inventions of machines that simplify and speed up the work of hand tools, use of steam (and other power) versus human power, adoption of a factory system. Workers were brought together under one roof and were supplied machines. The Industrial Revolution began throughout the world relatively during the same time period, and although it had its beginning in remote times, it is still continuing in some places.
We’ll start off with defining what the Industrial Revolution was. The industrial revolution was a time in which the economy and the environment took a drastic change within Britain, and changed its society to commercial agriculture based to a modern society. The Industrial Revolution had one of the largest impacts on: transportation, industry, communication and agriculture. Throughout this time, factories and mines became widespread
The Industrial Revolution that took place throughout the 18th and the 19th centuries had major effects which influenced every aspect of society and life such as, urbanization, imperialism and nationalism. The industrial revolution had an unfathomable effect on shaping the modern world to what it is today. Before the revolution, society revolved around farming and agriculture. There were only two social classes, the nobility and the working class. Little did they know, that their lives were about to change dramatically and continue changing for the next generations to come.
The Industrial Revolution changed the world forever. From the Industrial period, we had some good outcomes. The Revolution helped by making things faster and not as much hand made items. This led up to the invention of a machine and that helped us advance in technology. There were new advancements in medicine. It increased the wealth and power in Europe and the United States. While
A lifestyle, culture, a way of living completely changed in only 150 years. The industrial revolution was a period of time, between the years of 1750 and 1900 that changed the way people lived, farmed and produced items. Many things were invented, factories, railroads, new social constructs were created. Some of the things that came out of the industrial revolution benefitted people’s lives while others worsened the lives of people. Six major changes caused by the industrial revolution were, housing, the social class system of England, factories, inventors and the inventions they created, health conditions (mental and physical problems), and social conditions (unemployment, alcohol, crime, family life).
The Industrial Revolution had a negative effect on the children and women, and the reason it had a negative effect was that there were bad conditions that the children and women lived and worked in. The conditions that the children had to work under were horrible, which led to illnesses and diseases. Most factories were unsafe, unclean and the owners that the children worked under were abusive. Some of the machines that were in the factories were designed for children because of their small nimble fingers. The children would get abused when
