Throughout the learning and memory experiment, there were many things conducted and tested. The first fifteen presidents of the United States was chosen as a word pair list in which you pair the first name of the president to the last name. The presidents were chosen because they did much for our nation that we should be thankful for. Remembering the word pair list, determined things about different reinforcements and the ability to recall words within a few minutes. The hypothesis is that when trying to remember the word pair list with whatever memory methods used, the beginning and ending word pairs will be remembered most often. The subjects that were chosen came from Indian temple friends and classmates in chemistry class. The target population was eight subjects in three groups, which was a total of twenty-four subjects. There were eight subjects in the control group and eight other subjects each in the two experimental groups. They were divided into control and experimental groups randomly being a mix of temple friends and classmates. A independent variable is manipulated or changed. The independent variable was the word pair list needed to be memorized. The dependent variable is what is being measured in an experiment, which was the results of the word pair test. It was a single blind experiment, which is when only the participant does not know whether they are part of the treatment or control group. The experiment was administered by first asking the subject is
The first five presidents of the United States impacted the United States greatly and their names were George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe. The president I think that impacted the U.S the most was George Washington who was in office for eight years (1789-1797). George Washington who was the commander in chief and led the army in the Revolutionary War and gained freedom from Great Britain at that time there was thirteen colonies in the United States. In 1783 George Washington signed a peace treaty with Great Britain. John Adams which was the second president to be elected who was vice president at first for eight years (1789-1796) soon became president for four years (1797-1801). John Adams strengthened the central government by making the army stronger and he signed a law which is called the “Act for the Sick” which let government marine hospital service. Thomas Jefferson which was the third president was one of the more important presidents for the United States, he was one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence and he also organized the Louisiana Purchase which doubled the country known as the United States. James Madison Jr. known as the fourth president promoted the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. James Monroe which was the fifth president of the United States who was in office for eight years (1817-1825) and was the last president that was in the Virginia Dynasty and the Republican Generation.
A total of 59 participants took part in this experiment. They were split into two independent experimental groups, one being the control group, and the other the experimental group. There were 30 participants in the control group, and 29 participants in the experimental group. The male to female ratio was fairly equal with
The independent variable was represented by three conditions; three word lists printed in a variety of color inks. Two of the lists consisted of word colors; one in black ink and the other in incongruent colors. The third list consisted of square blocks in contrasting colors. The dependent variable was the time taken to name the black ink words, the square block colors, and the color names in
I. William McKinley was born on January 29, 1843 in Niles, Ohio. He died on September 14, 1901 in Buffalo New York. McKinley was the third president to be assassinated.
2. _C____ Divide your subjects in half. One group receives one treatment of the independent variable and the other group receives a different treatment of the independent variable. Subjects were all told they were going to see a video of a therapist's session after which they would rate the quality of the session. The groups differed in that the subjects in one group were told that prior evaluations indicated that the therapist was effective whereas subjects in the other group were told that the evaluations indicated the therapist was not effective. These different subjects were used for the two levels of the independent variable: subjects were in either the "effective therapist" or the "ineffective therapist" condition.
Monroe Doctrine- stated that the U.S would not get involved in European affairs, nor would it interfere with existing European colonies in the Western Hemisphere Missouri Compromise of 1820- Missouri was admitted as a slave state and Maine as a free state. John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States, graduated from William and Mary. In 1811, John Tyler began to serve the Virginia Legislature. In 1825, he began his 2 year term of Virginia Governor. During his time in between becoming president, he represented his home state in the Senate. While he was part of the Senate, he strongly disagreed with the ideas of Andrew Jackson. Just a few years later, Tyler resigned from the Senate to avoid some complications. Later, as an ex-senate, joined the Whig-party who were against Jackson. In 1840, the Whigs decided that William Harrison would be a good candidate for President, and Harrison chose Tyler as his vice president. Harrison ended up winning the election by quite a bit. Unfortunately, after

Historian Arthur Schlesinger said the team Imperial Presidency is when a president uses more power than the Constitution allows, and were able to avoid the checks and balances of our constitutional system. In this paper, I am going to explore three presidents who many feel were imperial presidents. While doing the research I was surprised how many great presidents had people make a case that they were an imperial president. For example, I read many articles about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln running imperial presidency. Abraham Lincoln is widely considered one of our greatest presidents. The three presidents that I am going to focus my paper on are Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and George W. Bush.
* 1835 the U.S. briefly became debt free for the first and only time, signs Treaty of Echota.
My opinion of the authors takes on whether Abraham Lincoln was one of America’s greatest presidents was that Paludan stated Lincoln was a president who wanted to defend and uphold the constitution of the United States, especially since President Lincoln always stated that all men are created equal and that meant blacks to in his opinion. He was the type of person who talked to the people not at the people when he spoke. Paludan believes Lincoln was a president that was greater than any other President in history. He feels that Lincoln wanted to keep all the states and all the people united. When the southern states left the Union due to issues like slavery, Lincoln wanted to reunite them with the Northern states. Paludan felt that Lincoln had several challenges while he was in office before his death, some he overcame and some he did not. Overcoming the Civil War between the States, uniting a divided country, and ending slavery were some of the things that Lincoln was challenged with while in office. Before he was killed at Ford Theater the war was coming to an end and the states were trying to become united and the slaves were given the choice of being free or stay working on the plantations in the south for pay, not as slaves. This and more is why Paludan thinks Lincoln the greatest president. However, Bradford stated the Lincoln had no business stating that blacks were included in the clause of equality mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. He believed that
a. The study was designed as an experimental research by using independent and dependent variables.
There were 12 graduates, 29 male undergraduates and 59 female undergraduates. It should be noted that in experiment one authors printed a word with different color, for example the word red printed in blue color. This was the basis on interference and color stimuli. The students were expected to name the colors as quickly as possible as they appeared in the reading line. It was referred to as naming color test.in this case the color print determined the word reading expect from the subjects.in case the word red as written in blue then the subjects were expected to read it as blue and not red as the wordings suggests. The word Brown written in green color would be read as green and this applied to all the groups. The subjects were subjected to similar conditions as in the first experiment. The efforts of the subjects were rated in terms of speed, ease and convenience in adhering to the test instructions. The errors were then compared to study
The control group was assigned to learn the list of words by repeating them. The other group was randomly distributed tests with instructions that said to make a narrative out of the nouns given in order, so that they could be recalled in that order. The test was conducted to confirm that instructions would aid the processes of retention and recall in memory, according to
The first president I chosen is John Adams, he was chosen for a few different reasons. The first reason is how he was stuck with fixing the government after George Washington. The impression I got from the book was that Washington wasn't very competent as a politician. He was an American hero chosen to be the face of his country not a governmental leader. This lead to many holes in the woodwork that were ignored. When Adams stepped into office the burden of fixing all of these holes were placed on him. Personally I had never looked in depth into him, reading this was eye opening. Even though he made a few controversial choices like passing the John Jay Treaty. As he said in the book, “‘popularity was never my mistress’”(Beschloss 34). I think him recognizing that his popularity was very important
