In many homes, children are victims of more than one they of abuse. The abusers can be parents, family members, guardians, caregivers and even strangers. “The world of health considers ‘child abuse” as a blanket term for four types of child mistreatment”. (“Child”) Physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect are all examples of child abuse. Child abuse may start when mothers “spank” their children. Spanking means to strike quickly and sharply with the hand or belt. Repeating this punishment will teach some children some lessons. “Emotional abuse can damage the child’s normal emotional needs. Neglecting the child can make them feel unwanted (“Child”). People use emotional abuse as a way out of their own problems. When the caregivers stress level is high they want others to suffer with them, they don’t want their child to be happy while they’re not. Neglecting is another type of emotional abuse. For example, a scapegoat child who may be different from other family members by their unattractiveness, disability, or being a child from a former spouse. Scapegoat children are the main targets in the house. They become left out of the family, therefor being yelled at for little mistakes. Name calling like “I never wanted you, I should have left you and not your dad, you little piece of crap!” Leaves the child disappointed in him or herself for “making” their parents say those hurtful words. Saying these words can break down a child forever.
