Briefly describe the company you researched. The company that I researched is WellPoint (aka Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield). I would love to have a position as a Human Resource Director within the company. As a Human Resources professional at WellPoint, the goal is to lead their workforce and workplace talent strategies into achieving the purpose statement to convert health care with trusted and caring solutions. WellPoint also develop programs that attract individuals with vision and talent to be the future of their industry. Human Resources professionals at WellPoint concentrate on key areas such as talent management, engagement, and Integration to maximize customer focus and efficiency. Evaluate the effectiveness of the company’s recruiting efforts and suggest two recommendations for improvement. The HR professionals have a hard time getting qualified applicants to apply for certain positions. So the first challenge is getting enough people to apply to a particular job. In doing so they are able to prepare not to consider those who they deem unfit for the position. It takes a lot of effort to select the applicants that truly qualify for the job. All organizations have to begin with advertising for the position. Other resources used for employment are employee referral, employment agencies, school recruiters, walk-ins, and the internet. To work in human resources, a person must go through an industrial/psychology analysis. WellPoint human
Human resource is an appellation used in referring to the workforce of an organization or company. Human resource management is involved in the act of putting together employees in an organized manner to assure the objectives of the organization are achieved in a competent and experienced manner. Human resources are the most important services of any organization since they are the catalysts of non-human resources and the medium for developing competitive advantages and sounds of creativity. No organization can exist without a human resources department (Walsh, 2009). A company without an HR department would be reducing its operations and could collapse within a short amount of time.
Performance Management at Intermountain Healthcare Key Points Operational focus - strategy rather than management. The HR Department wears many hats and is most cases responsible for many areas: budget controlling, conflict resolution, training, employee satisfaction, cost saving measures, strategic planning, and of course the big one…the hiring of the “right “individuals. The hiring process needs to be an organized and well thought out set of procedures from identifying who will be needed to the hiring and training of that individual. There are many steps, some of which have legal ramifications, so the procedures need to be followed and reviewed to ensure that the procedures are not only capturing the best candidates but the procedures comply with all of the laws.
This week I began my 6-week internship at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE). The first day was a common orientation for all new employees, internally denoted to as the “onboarding process” where all employees are told they matter. This full-day session communicates the core mission, vision and goals of BCBSNE, organizational structure, operating objectives, and workplace culture. BCBSNE is a not-for-profit health insurance company that is focused on collaboration to find the best solution for their customers; in other words, they are customer-focused. Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), many changes to the health insurance market required a change in the organizational structure and culture of BCBSNE. Through partnerships with providers, the goals of BCBSNE are to be responsive, accountable, minimize errors, and decrease costs – all components of the ACA. BCBSNE has strategically aligned their goals to those of the government-mandated goals, and implemented them at all levels of the organization, making them competitive in the health insurance market. I found this very fascinating: I was very excited after day one!

A corporation’s human resources branch is the joining between its individuals and every unit beneath its top. On the outside, an “HR division look as if there is to do little more than hold on to organizations records. In employing and hiring HR administrators are also working more with the “recruiting and hiring departments in their offices to help them make better decisions.” The reason for this is very easy to understand, HR executive has a tendency to have countless people skills,” which comes accessible because a job meeting is all about reading people.” (https://cenidianblog.wordpress.com)

Where the HR function is large, there would typically be a HR Director within the structure that works with the other top level executives to analyse the organisation in order to determine and plan its staffing needs to achieve the long term goal and strategic aims. It is at this level where other options should be explored to determine the actual need to recruit as there may be other options for the organisation such as job redesign. The area of staffing falls within the HR function where the recruitment and selection of human resources for the organisation is carried out.
