The community image, as perceived from the I-70 corridor, has been a community concern for some time. The Downtown Improvement Committee, as part of this planning process, studied this visual quality issue. After doing so, the Committee presented a three-pronged approach to resolving the various issues. First, the Committee recommended that the Town set aside funds in the 2018 budget to begin a basic clean-program and for the purposes of initiating community with property owners in this area. The Committee recommended that an initial cleanup plan be developed for 2018, its scope based on the amount that could be set aside in the budget. Second, the Committee recommended that the Town take a positive but more active role in code …show more content…
Redevelopment may not require such screening. Current Conditions Improved View and Opportunity for Community Brand Statement iii. There are several areas along the interstate corridor, east of the old School House, that will require significant investment to correct the visual problems. Typically, they include steep hillside scars. Due to both the steepness of the hillsides and quality of soil, it will be difficult to get vegetation to cover the scars. In all likelihood, weeds would have taken over by now if any kind of vegetation would grow there. To correct these visual scars will require a higher level of investment by the Town. The Town should initiate discussions with property owners to, where possible and within reason, gain participation or approval to reduce the slope, amend the soil and establish an appropriate revegetation program. It will probably be necessary to reduce the slope to about 2:1 to allow vegetation to get a foot-hold there. Work with property owners farther east, toward the interchange, to establish a uniform, maintained screening fence. v. Establish a forestry and screening plan for the Town’s wastewater facility. c. Downtown Identity A couple of issues identified in the SWOT assessment are the lack of both Downtown
External and internal environmental analysis is a critical component for an organization seeking to achieve its goals. The follow information within this paper presents a complete external environmental and an internal competitive environmental scan for JetBlue Airways. The information provided identifies and analyzes the most important external environmental factor in the remote, industry, and external operating environments. When addressing external environment it speaks to a set of forces and conditions outside the organization that can influence its performance. The most common forces include political, economic, social,
The only part of this statement that actually describes the role of Downtown is that it is to “serve as a support and stimulus to business and industry.” There is not a clear direction for the role of Downtown in the “Big
Alicia funding proposal is short and to the point. It is a reasonable expectation that an agency be able to explain what it has done with the money, besides spend it, and explain what the public can expect to receive from the planned operations of the agency in the upcoming year (Mikesell, 2017, pg. 111). Alicia’s description of Community Strong is excellent. She thoroughly describes what the public can expect from Community Strong. Her non-profit agency will have a prominent presence in Columbus, reduce crime, and provide additional safety and security to Columbus residents. Her Community liaison officers will patrol areas by foot and bicycle from the hours of 5 pm to 10 pm and 10 pm to 6:30 am. Her liaison officers will

In this capacity, I embrace the philosophy that results are more important than rhetoric. I believe the two most important functions of a city councilor are to represent your interests with vision and foresight and to provide top of the line constituent services. I am both committed and qualified to do just that.
Vacant Lot Restoration Program is a comprehensive plan to specifically address vacant lots by engaging residents and organizations in their sustainable revitalization by helping underserved, inner-city residents green their communities and restore vacant lots by creating neighborhood gardens and green spaces, planting street trees, and establishing tree nurseries (Parks & People Foundation, 2002). These efforts were initially undertaken in collaboration with the City Department of Recreation and Parks and funded by Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The program was officially established through an agreement between the Parks & People Foundation (PPF) and DHCD to assist communities’ neighborhood Service in managing vacant open space through adopting the lot Program. All the agenesis will be defined later in this paper.
Amendment to Future Land Use Map, 1500 block Spring Drive, 3.8 acres, from low density residential land use to general commercial land use
As envisioned by the Department’s Executive Management in 2016, at initiation of six-year community plan cycle, the outreach process was to involve a, “more continuous feedback loop of public input”, from previous Community Plan Update outreach efforts and toward achieving
Another very crucial environmental issue, besides global warming, involves the finite nature of natural re, which are being depleted faster than their replenishment rates. The development model of the 20th century, which promoted the continuous consumption of products, has resulted in the reduction of agriculture land, food, water re as also fossil fuels. If humanity continues to consume fossil fuels at the same rate as today, oil re will run out by 2030, gas by 2040 and coal by 2200. By 2025, the number of people suffering due to water stress will rise to approximately 3.5 billion and almost half the world’s population is expected to experience high water stress by
Through Jane Jacobs’ book, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, she details precise features that make a city successful. Among these, safe sidewalks, lively parks, and diversity of uses and users are the most important, and will be the focus of study. This paper will compare and contrast the changes taking place in the Budlong Woods community with those that are successful or unsuccessful in other city neighborhoods. Through these comparisons it will be determined whether the money invested in Budlong Woods will drive the community into prosperity, or like many other city rehabilitation projects, simply be a waste of money that strips the area of its diversity and unique characteristics.
Let’s start with the food pantry. There are plenty of people that go hungry and never ask anyone for help. Having a place to drop off the food and for people to come and pick it up. We would have less people go hungry in our community. They would really appreciate the food.
Revitalization efforts in downtown areas have gained momentum over the past few decades, this paper is focused on revitalization strategies, recognizing the process of decline, while identifying key strategies used in downtown revitalization efforts over the past fifty years (Faulk 2006). Downtowns, unlike suburban shopping malls or office complexes, evolved slowly over time, responding to changing technologies, social and economic patterns. A city’s identity relies heavily on the image of its downtown, so inevitably cities of all sizes commit themselves to achieving successful downtown redevelopment (Robertson 1995). As I have been reading literature on downtown revitalization a number of strategies and principles have surfaced. Many of
I have never attended a community meeting or any meeting regarding my community therefore, attending this meeting for the first time was a great first experience. I was able to see how a meeting is ran and how the organization works in order to help make improvements in my community. When I went into the office the meeting was being held, I was offered an agenda and other informational forms regarding the meeting. The agenda provided information of how the organization of the meeting would be and who will be going over what topics. The meeting was a timed meeting where Richard Hernandez and Bill Houtt managed on recording to keep data. The issues that were discussed were citizen’s request for city improvements, a short review of the 2016 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) Accomplishments, which is a grant that helps build homes for low income families and was reviewed by Rhonda Haynes a community developer. Lastly, the Sidewalk at Divisadero and Rinaldi, North Visalia citizen report were also discussed by Bill Houtt a member of the committee, and construction issues in N. Visalia discussed by Lt. Brent Abbott.
Social Factors - The California Pizza Kitchen sells pizzas, pastas, salads, etc. and the ambience of the restaurants is quite informal and homely. Its primary key to its success has been that they were the first pizza restaurant that offered fresh and non-traditional ingredients for its pizzas. On a whole, the American consumer base is traditionally not very nutritional conscience when it comes to dining out. Regionally, the consumer preferences are suiting the business model of the company in most areas; however changes in the consumer
Organizations need to be aware of what is going on in their environments that might concern them, and more so, during the planning process. Diverse but overlapping environments ought to be monitored; the macro environment, the industrial environment, the competitive environment, and the organization’s internal environment (Ginter, 2013; Pfeiffer, 1986). At Rapha AL, my chosen organization, the environmental scanning will include distinct internal and external factors that would enable Rapha gain excellent understanding of the current and emerging issues that might affect it, and inspire the setting of clear and achievable goals. In this paper, I will analyze and address the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT); discuss current and prospective customers and evaluate the impact of environmental factors on the organization’s effectiveness to achieve the established goals within the strategic plan. Furthermore, I will address evolving external issues that could influence the strategic plan, evaluate the benefits of competitive analysis and Rapha’s capacity to achieve the strategic goals and objectives in a 3-year strategic plan.
