In reviewing the essay, there are many errors I noticed. Overall, your writing lacks focus in regards to ideas, grammar, and spelling. I am no expert in any of these areas, but my ability to produce a coherent essay is demonstrated by the fact that I am nearly done with college. Writing varies from a text message to a novel. Writers often have a difficult task in creating a piece of work that truly identifies the meaning of good writing. Every good writer usually starts with the basics such as genre, audience, rhetorical situation, and reflection of the piece. It’s ENC 1101, Not knowing what to expect I entered the room with absolute fear, after all it was my first year of college. Although I’ve never been quite fond of English in the past, I’ve always excelled in the subject. I had yet to work for my grade and no English course I had taken proved to be a challenge through my eyes. I am a huge procrastinator, if not one of the biggest when it comes to assignments. I most likely wrote papers the night before or the day of and still managed to average an “A” on all of them. This bad habit led me to believe that I was cheating myself. Throughout my scholastic years I always had the mentality of asking “what could this class possibly teach me that I didn’t already know?” I believed that my writing
It took me a while to determine what i was going to write about in this essay. Being as I am a sixteen year old high school student, it was a little hard to dig down deep and decide who has truly influenced my writing. I don’t think I can state one specific person that has impacted my own writing style, mostly because of which i am given a generic prompt for. With that said, my eighth grade writing teacher, gifted me with a strong passion for writing.
I personally enjoy writing. I always have and I, likely, always will. However, I severely struggle under certain writing conditions and prompts. For example, I found the investigation essay extremely difficult. I was largely unable to grasp how to investigate the truth behind cat erections. While I did receive an average grade of an 88%, I felt that my investigation essay was one of the worst papers I have ever wrote. In fact, I was worried I would receive a horrible grade on that essay.
Everyone has a process when they write a paper, a book, or a story. Typically, everyone has a similar process, but each person's overall method will vary. For example, some people may choose paper and pencil while others prefer using a keyboard. My process is generally the same, but may slightly deviate according to the type of writing assignment.
Everyone has a different process they usually run through while writing a paper. In the past, I have always gone straight for the computer when I wish to start on a particular assignment. Whereas some may prefer to put their words on paper first or prepare a detailed outline, I stick to opening up a word document and writing the first thoughts that come to mind. Teachers have practically drilled into my mind over the years that outlining will help my writing, but personally I repeatedly struggle with structure, and prefer to write right away and clean up later. Furthermore, often times I will think of a new idea while writing a paragraph completely unrelated. Instead of abandoning this thought, I tend to bullet point at the bottom of the word document to remember to incorporate it at some point in the paper. Thus, I approach a paper more freely and choose to type what’s on my mind currently, as apposed to copying from an outline or a handwritten essay.

The only strength that I can think of when it comes to my writing style is expressing my ideas clearly and concisely. The last assignment was a little bit challenging because not in a million years would I have thought of active and passive writing styles. It’s not that I have not been taught these skills. However, writing has always been my favorite subject. Moreover, I am grateful that this class is teaching me about writing on a professional level because this is a paramount skill to have in any profession. Speaking and expressing oneselves in verbal communication, is not an activity as simple as we think it might be. In fact speaking takes to the brain a noticeable quantity of effort to be completed every time we feel the necessity or instinct to communicate with worlds with an other human beings. The brain is one of the most powerful Central Processing unit existing in the world. Reading and writing than are activities vay more tiresome and articulated compared to the mere capacity of speaking. Not for a coincidence a person at first learn how to speak, than write, and at the end to read. Generally childrens learn those skills during the first years of elementary school and they keep working and evolving them during the course of their educational life. Although this is a reality that is completely distant to the one associated to the way in which Alexie, Malcom X, and Douglass achieved their competence in literacy. The unconventional method through which they learned the art of reading and writing was a way more extreme and complex path from the one that anyone else at their age would have had.
I have always been more interested in the reading and writing sides of academia. Being able to understand and craft intricate pieces of work using only language has and will always be an appealing idea to me. For most of my childhood I was very much of the mindset that the more large and obscure vocabulary one used in their writing and speaking, the more intelligent that person was. This led to my younger self embarking on a quest to learn and incorporate as many of these large complex words into everyday speech and prose as possible. I was always an incredibly articulate, if not pretentious child that spoke often and loudly in order to display my wide vocabulary to others in the hopes of impressing them.
