When speaking of politicians we have to look at the local and federal officials. We are living in a world today as to where other countries have lost assurance in our federal government. It’s evident that we now live in a world of chaos faced with a lot of different controversial issues. A vast part of this reason is due to decisions made by our politicians. A typical example is the inadequacy of health care this has been a huge controversial topic that affects millions of people. Children and adults lack in health care while many families struggle to earn a living and America’s families are being denied the chance to achieve the American Dream. The Bible teaches us to respect our parents, the elderly and those placed in authority. Therefore
As Mark Twain said "They swarm with their party, they feel with their party, they are happy in their party's approval; and where the party leads they will follow, whether for right and honor, or through blood and dirt and a much of mutilated morals." They base everything on corn pone opinions, they pretend to like or want something that they don't really believe in, because they need the public and their party support. Most Politicians will follow their party believes even if they go against their own morals. Our government wants to feel powerful, in control; even if in the progress they lose themselves and become a creation of society's corn pone
Social issues have plagued the women and minorities of our country for decades upon decades, degrading them as if emotions and morals were not evident amongst them. The article entitled "Affirmative Action" states that as representation of minorities and women became more and more necessary, a movement called "affirmative action" became an important issue. Affirmative action is not limited to the uplifting of certain genders and races, but it focuses on establishing standards of certain ethical codes. Affirmative action concentrates on a broad array of issues including equal opportunity, systematic exclusion, and diversity.
One significant issue in the Republican Party is Audit in the Federal Reserve. The Republican Party supports it because the Federal Reserve's monetary policy actions affect both inflation and economic activity, which should be transparent. One significant issue in the Democratic Party is outsourcing healthcare. Democrats believe that the government should take care of all its people's health care (Eleanor, 2015).
This paper will focus on some issues addressed by 2016 presidential candidates from Republic and Democratic Party. These presidential candidates are Hillary Clinton, Ben Carson, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trumps. Some of the issues that will be addressed are gun laws, abortion, immigration, same sex marriages and taxes.
In 1997, NYU law professor Annette Gordon-Reed undertook the duties of a historian without abandoning her legal background. An American Controversy examines two relationships: The alleged one between Thomas Jefferson and his slave Sally Hemings, and, more importantly, that between Jeffersonian historians and this potential stain on the legacy of the third President. At the time the book was written, the consensus among historians was that this alleged liaison between master and slave was nothing more than a myth. Reed's work attacks the journey to this consensus as much as it does the consensus itself, building up the argument for the affair's existence and ruthlessly attacking the ways in which and reasons why the possibility of the affair
The political infrastructure of America has remained consistent with the ideology of a representative republic, essentially the masses choosing representatives who then decide whom they want as a leader of the fine country under the notion of said candidates ideologies, religion, and promises upon election. Every four years, America holds an election to determine the Commander in Chief, an honor of prestige and status. The duty of a President is to obey the best interests of the country, utilizing their power in order to handle the issues that plague the nation. Planetary issues such as gay marriage, immigration, and marijuana particularly, same-sex marriage, the construction of a wall near the southern border, and medical marijuana. This essay aims to display the arguments/stance that each presidential candidate has towards such issues, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and serves as an analysis of their determined stance.
The United States’ presidential election this year is nothing but a massive conflict between both the presidential nominees, and actual violent confrontations amongst the voters. There will be ramifications for many years to come regardless of who wins, and the world is paying attention. Both the presidential nominees are morally reprehensible people who are reviled greatly by significant portions of the U.S. population, yet they somehow managed to make it through the primaries to become our nominees. For those that care about decency, it is hard to imagine voting for either one, and I actually find myself longing for Ron Paul to throw his hat back into the ring. How did this come to pass, and how does it reflect upon us as a people?
Stop and frisk. One of the most controversial issues of today's society. This dates back all the way to 1967 with the case Terry v Ohio. In this case, an officer by the name of Martin Mcfadden, patrolling his surrounding area, noticed two African American men acting “suspiciously” in front of a store on a street corner at 1276 Euclid Avenue. Mcfadden described the men to be alternately walking back and forth and conversing while taking breaks in between. He also stated that the two men later met up with another African American male one block over and soon after, rejoined him in front of the store once more.Officer Mcfadden believed he was witnessing what seemed to be a “stick up”; nuisances “casing a job”. Mcfadden stated he feared not only
We elect the politicians that we see best fit the job they are running for. However, politicians are people too and people have emotions. Emotions can cause politicians to lose perspective or misjudge the scope of the issue. Some politicians choose to make a career out of what they are doing and they wind up in office for their whole lives. With this, they face many issues and situations that are very stressful. In the end, this shapes who they become and what decisions they make. In the political world, every decision you make is
As Ronald Reagan once said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help” (Erb, 2011). This quote has recently given many people a negative depiction towards the government, due to election season. Along with this negative depiction towards the government are topics that pose issues to society. The most common talked about topics between Donald Trump (Republican) and Hillary Clinton (Democrat) are often referred to as the “hot button issues.” Some of the discussions this election season have been about social groups and organizations, race and ethnicity, social stratification and the distribution of wealth, and lastly, gender and sexuality.
There are many issues facing America today, that simultaneously affect those around the globe. When trying to decide what is worse for the United States of America; being too involved in the affairs of other nations troubles or allowing evil to run free, we have to carefully look at both sides. I believe that evil can be contained, but we cannot be the babysitter of other nations.
Many politicians get into politics for power and money then try to enforce the rules that they think are fit for the entire nation not because it actually is, but because it is something they want to enforce due to their own personal agenda. For example, the Constitution says that what is said in the Constitution is the law of the land, yet some politicians are trying to take the power and freedom of the 2nd Amendment away from American citizens. For example, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens wants to change the 2nd Amendment to say that you only have the right to be armed when serving in the militia. Now, this was said after Stevens had stepped down, but he was just as vocal about his opinions on the court as he was off the court. The pay of a Supreme Court Justice cannot go down, and they can do almost anything they
While Americans argue over immigration, which will be a major topic of debate during the upcoming 2016 Presidential Election, a widening number of Americans are quietly emigrating to other countries. A recent online poll conducted by TrasferWise, a peer-to-peer funds transfer service headquartered in the United Kingdom, shows that 35 percent of Americans are considering leaving the country, in the meantime, a record number has already left.
Immigration is one of the most controversial topics that have been debated on in the United States. Many people of the government are trying to reform the immigration policies by either allowing those a path to citizenship or to deport those illegal. I believe in allowing immigration in the United States. I believe those immigrants are very important to our economy ,and they help our country flourish. The immigrants ,both legal and illegal, spread culture and diversity for our country. Lastly, one of the most important points is that immigration allows for those to live a happy and better life with their family.
The government in the United States supposedly revolves around American ideals such as equality and diversity; however, this is simply not the case as perpetuated by class inequalities. The meaning of democracy has been skewed in the United States to represent something entirely different than it did in 1776. Today, American democracy behaves more like an aristocracy, where the upper class exercises power within the government and state, influencing discourse and therefore the laws and resources in our country, which are purportedly “for the people”. Democracy is presumed to provide everyone with equal political power, but the government in today’s America, although seemingly following this ideal model, does not. Instead, the elite upper class has a monopoly over the political influence and are the sole benefactors from public policies due to their influence over the policy making process. The upper class has an overall benefit from class inequality, as it greatly impacts American ‘democracy’ through the significant power gained through money and status, leadership roles that impact government, and the influence in the policymaking process that creates upper class advantages.
