When it comes to nature, trees, rivers, the sky, air pollution also affect the environment. Air pollution can harm the ecosystem. “Nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide cause eutrophication and acidification of lakes and streams, damaging ecosystems” (Melamed et al, 2016). This can harm the environment and contribute to the human health problems. We drink water, and water plants with water. Even more particulate matter interact with cloud formation processes and may impact the amount and location of precipitation (Melamed et al, 2016). This is the reason of flooding and water problems.
Food is a necessity to survive, however air pollution in not beneficial to vegetation. “The deposition of ozone on vegetation weakens plants and stunts their growth,

In their platform they stated, no further measures are needed in the issue of air pollution (Republican Party, 2016). The Republican Party belief is that the environment is improving year by year, and that air pollution will decline due to technological turnover of aging equipment (Republican Party, 2016). Trump, however has a similar mindset compared to his party. Trump supports clean water and air, however the funding of the Environmental Protection Agency, needs to be lowered. Over the years pollution has decreased, therefore, funding the organization shouldn’t be expensive. Nitrogen dioxide pollution, averaged yearly from 2005-2011, has decreased across the United States Air pollution has decreased even though population and the number of cars on the roads have increased (Nasa, 2014). The decrease in the air pollutant, nitrogen dioxide is a result of regulations, technology improvements, and economic changes involving cars/. As it is stated they will not focus their attention on this important STEM …show more content…
Air pollution rate may be lower that passed years, but it stills need to be lowered. According to EPA, despite dramatic progress cleaning the air since 1970, air pollution in the United States continues to harm people’s health and the environment (2016). The world still need to make better efforts improve air pollution. Air pollution causes many health problems, and environmental issues. Even when air pollution is not seen, or highly polluted it can create issues. “Newer scientific studies have shown that some pollutants can harm public health and welfare even at very low levels” (EPA, 2016). The Democratic Party and Green Party understand the efforts to improve air quality for environmental and health reasons. However, the Republican Party and the Libertarian Party need to focus on the main source of the economy growth; that starts with people and their environment. The libertarian need to focus on the people rights, by giving them the right to clean air. Air pollution needs to come to an end, following the EPA direction of air pollution is the way for a better life for people and their environment. The EPA supports regulations and advise the government on ways to lower the air pollution in the United States. It is a beneficial agency in the government to better the world now and for the
Another big problem in polluting places and things is air pollution which can make air foggy, unbreathable, and toxic. According to “34 Facts about Pollution”, the text states breathing the air in Mumbai, India, for just one day is equivalent to smoking 100 cigarettes. One of the things that can cause air pollution is releasing factory fuels and fossil fuels into the air. We also cause it from burning certain things like plastic, chemicals, and other
Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real. In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state “in the first 100 days of the next administration, the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts, activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis.” This is highlighted previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic Party as internationalist and having the large government—as it states in the
Pollution can cause changes in the planet’s energy balance, such as changes in the greenhouse effect, which affects the amount of heat retained by Earth’s atmosphere, variations in the sun’s energy reaching Earth changes in the reflectivity of Earth’s atmosphere and surface. The changes have changed the climate many times which have an effect on humans also. (NRC EPA. 2010) Our planet can is good at reusing waste but humans are producing more than what the Earth can handle. Pollution happened at different stages and it has an impact on all living things including species and humans. Unfortunately, humans are the most polluting species.
Air pollution causes great damage to the environment. These damages include acid rain, eutrophication, haze, ozone depletion, global climate change, etc. "Acid rain is precipitation containing harmful amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids."Acid
The New Democratic Party promises to improve the environmental situation that we are currently living in. Our
Answer = Based on my observations, the effects of pollution can change the environment severely causing great damage. It reduces the air quality that we breathe in from reeking factory waste to vehicle exhaust, which creates that smog look hanging over Los Angeles. It also affects our planet and food supply that we depend on to survive.
From a Republican’s aspect, they generally prefer to have limited government intervention in regards to personal issues, but also take over international relations. Not only that, but they are typically pro-military, pro-religion, and pro-business. In other words, Republicans are known to be conservative. In terms of environment, Republicans are firms with their strict beliefs. According to multiple sources, when asked if the think the government should increase environmental regulations in order to prevent climate change, Republicans are opposed to the idea. Regardless of scientific data proving a temperature increase in the planet’s atmosphere since the late nineteenth century, they still hold a string stance that EPA should
Although many prominent politicians within the Republican Party continue to deny its’ existence, Climate Change is real. Irrefutable scientific evidence proves the earth is facing a serious environmental crisis, and the American public is taking notice. According to the EPA, 61% of Americans recognize the current status of the environment as an issue and believe action must be taken. Take action by voicing your disapproval for HR 5078, which passed in the House this past week. Encourage the Senate to kill this bill and protect America’s lakes, streams, wetlands, and other bodies of water. HR 5078 would prevent the “Definition of Waters of the United States Under the Clean Water Act” or WOTUS, a rule jointly proposed by the EPA and USACE,
Under the Clean Air Act, many of these air pollutants have been reduced, but there is still a threat to the quality of life in
Improved air quality wasn’t a subject of national concern until the mid 1900s. After decades of coal burning, unregulated gas emissions from cars and the excessive burning of fossil fuels, people started noticing bad air quality as a hazard to their lives. Over several decades, after seeing the costly effects air pollution was having on the environment and people’s health, interest groups like the Friends of The Earth club and the influences of Theodore Roosevelt and Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring finally came together to persuade the government to enforce legislation that would reduce air pollution. Because of these efforts, the policies of the Clean Air Act of 1963 and the Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Act of 1965, that aimed to control air pollution and raise air quality standards, helped create the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on December 2, 1970. Since then, the EPA has passed more air quality improvement acts, and amendments to previous acts passed, to increase restrictions on air pollutants, with their main policy concern being the Clean Air Act. Improved air quality acts imposed by the EPA have been successful in cleaning the United States’ air quality by reducing ground-level ozone pollution and reducing emissions, allowing for a decrease in pollution related deaths/illnesses and a better standard of living. The EPA, through regulations and the Clean Air Act, has delivered it’s promise to improve air quality in the United States.
The Republican Party believes that preserving of the environment is a conservative value so long as it does not interfere with economics. Any environmental policy must in return, promise to increase economic growth, and not infringe on private property rights for it to be deemed practical.
Air pollution are impacting the environment, and it is imperative that laws are enforced to help build and sustain a better air quality. Air pollutants can be in the form of particulate matter which can be very harmful to our health. Stimulation to our eyes, nose, throat, and breathing infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia are all short-term effects. You’re head might hurt, you might want to puke, and you might have allergic reactions. Short-term air pollution can put people with asthma and emphysema in a worse condition. Long lasting breathing disease, lung cancer, heart disease, and even damage to your brains, nerves, livers, or kidneys are all long-term effects. If you’re exposed to air pollution continuously, it would affect children’s lungs and may complicate medical conditions for the elders. Some people argue and deny the bad air problem. They claim that pollution may actually be good for the Earth. The hazy weather caused by pollution has made plants far more productive when it comes to scrubbing greenhouse gasses out of the air. Pollution has turned plants into better carbon dioxide processing machines. But this is bad for our own health. Pollution is causing global warming which leads to massive ice land melting. Polar bears and other animals that live there are losing there habitats and even dying. Melting ice could also lead to more sea water which would bury some cities or land near the coastal areas. There is already a tremendous amount of people on this planet. If our land decreases, and our population continues to increase, some people would have to start living on another planet; therefore, making it a priority to address the areas
The proposed bill, S166, would decrease the levels of air pollution in our country. The United States annually produces millions of tons of pollution. However, there are not many laws in our country to reduce the amount of air pollution. High air pollution can lead to many health problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, heart disease, and possibly cancer. Our proposal will grant tax breaks to those who use an electric vehicle instead of the traditional vehicle and benefits for those who use public transportation. This law will reduce ingredients such as smoke, carbon monoxide, and toxics in the air. In addition, our bill would contain laws that take strict actions against polluters. There will be a $5000 fine and the loss of future benefits
The United States Environmental policy within the last 25 years has changed considerably due to events and politics. Things such as global warming, air pollution, water pollution, etc... has gotten the attention of more and more American citizens as well as celebrities and has created numerous environmental activist groups. These drastic changes have also brought about movies being made and telling the tale of how these changes will affect humans and the environment in the long term. One of the changes that President Trump is slowly trying to implement is eliminating the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). (Green, 2017) The purpose of this agency is to create and enforce laws passed by Congress that protect humans and the environment. (Green,
