The purpose of planning work and being accountable to other for own work is so you can be organised over the period of time the work task will take you. Planning work enables you to be ready for any other emergencies that you may be faced with. You will also be able to set priorities and your work will be more efficient. By taking responsibility for the work being produced, it will give a positive image of you to others and they will be able to trust you with other tasks as they will view you as more professional and trustworthy to take on the task.

The benefit of recognising and learning from mistakes is that it can increase relationships with colleagues as they will see that you are willing to take responsibility for the mistakes you make and that you are willing to improve not to make the same mistake again. It is important to realise a mistake so that you can find ways to not make the same error. We don’t want to become discouraged if we do something wrong, so it is important that when we do make mistakes, we just take it as an experience of what not to do next time. The best way to learn from a mistake is to ask others and see how others’ dealt with similar problems.

The purpose of guidelines, procedures and code of practice that are relevant to work is so you know how work is supposed to be done, what is expected and so you do not make mistakes. Having a code of practice establishes an agreement between colleagues which can help to minimise any mistakes, risks, problems or bad performance in the workplace.
