Soft Skills in Workplace Volunteering and Internship
Hoy (2011, p. 29) believed that internships and volunteering allow students to have a taste of the environment that they hope to be employed after they finished schooling. In fact, it is through internships that students are provided with the sufficient skills that would help them in the transition stage- from study to work (The Centre for Volunteering, 2015). In line of this assertion, this paper will identify the workplace opportunity I have chosen, and provide for four soft skills that I can use in the said internship opportunity.
Archival Internship
I have chosen this internship opportunity because I want to enhance my knowledge on archival science. Apart from that, I want also

I believe that this soft skill is an advantage in my archival internship because with having the sense of responsibility, I am able to put up effort and perform my duty to the best of my ability.
Creative Thinking
Doyle (2016) argued that through creative thinking, a person is able to come up with unique solutions. As a result, efficiency is increased. In my archival internship, it is important that I am able to think beyond the box because it is through this that I am able to perform a wide variety of task. For example, in making the archive accessible to users, I must think of ways on how to creatively produce the materials.
Conclusion
I believe that the four soft skills I have chosen could positively impact my archival internship because an archivist is the one responsible not only for the provision and care of collections and information which preserve the past must also to manage it. Through my communication skill, I am able to answer enquiries and assist on organizing public events such as exhibitions and talks. Through being flexible, I am able to present my positive attitude regardless of the situation of the situation I am in. With my strong ethic work, I can perform my responsibility excellently. Lastly, it is through my creative thinking that I am able to manage and resolve conflicts through providing unique solutions. As an intern, I am burdened with the responsibility of ensuring that I am exposed to various experiences which will serve as an edge once I apply for work after I
Internship is a six to eight weeks working experience in any organization. The purpose behind doing an internship is to get familiar with a professional working environment. Often students do internships during there vacations so as to gain experience in their field of interest. Students studying engineering, computer science, textiles or business management; they are required to perform at least an internship so as to receive degree from their respective institutions. The purpose of writing this essay is to share my wonderful working experience as an internee at Spyglass Winery. I loved every minute of it as I discovered several new skills and came across with some interesting job opportunities. This statistical analysis (www.fasttrackinternships.com) shows the rate of full time job placements according to the number of internships completed.
I love the idea of providing students with a variety of opportunities that would satisfy each student's needs. Whether its research, volunteering and community service, it all is provided here. The curriculum also allows for a great amount of flexibility enabling students to pursue these other interest that would make them very competitive for residencies. I have a great interest in practicing in underserved communities upon graduation, therefore every opportunity I get to volunteer in clinics and shadow physician in underserved regions is something I look forward to here at Western University of Health Sciences. Likewise, the diverse student body is great as each student come from various backgrounds and have unique experiences all of which
An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.

I am currently doing my internship at this senior center and it is based on the ten core competencies of Eastern’s B.S.W. Program. I am providing clerical and administrative support for efficient operation of the Norris Square Senior Center. I prepare source data for entries, store coding and other information in databases, and solicit feedback regarding
Each of these three components would support my learning objectives and professional goals because it is my aspiration to work in the field of museum operations. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is actually the museum I am most interested in working for, and its extensive internship program would help me sophisticate my skills and gain the experience I need to pursue what I want to pursue, which is a career in which history and art history can be conveyed to the public visually, like it is in museums.
Also while interning, I have become familiar with transcription software and formatting the information into a formal report and how to utilize the chain of command. In addition, I have become familiar with high-end photography equipment used in surveillance operations.
By being a student in the Faculty of Architecture, I have obtained various skills useful for this job. By developing excellent projects and drawings, I learnt how to do several activities and use different skills at the same time. Being careful in details and effective at the same time, working effectively, prioritizing when and how to spend my time, and understanding how to solve issues are some of the abilities that demonstrate my capacity for this job. In addition, I obtained strong administrative skills by working as an assistant at
I selected this particular internship because it revolves around education and communication skills, both of which are featured in my internship. This internship focusses on “informal science education and engaging the public about science”. There are a few similarities between this internship and mine. Science education is the primary goal of this internship and my internship focusses on teaching urban ecology. The second similarity is that you must be good at presenting information you have been previously trained on.
Self-awareness, resilience, and perseverance have proven to be the most vital internal soft skills I have developed recently. Before Sinclair, I had never really known about soft skills, and until recently I had never known what they were called. My introduction to internal soft skills came with networking with older students and professors that guided to me through my youthful disarray and irresponsibility. I had a rough start in college and found my way through Sinclair. With self-awareness, I was able to become critical of my bad habits and make changes to remedy
In addition, I value the work most do in offices because at times it is very tedious. Every individuals job is important in an office setting because it is like a well running machine. If one part is not functioning then the entire machine is useless. It is crucial to be responsible with all tasks to have the company running smoothly. By meeting deadlines at the time stated or earlier. As well as always taking initiative for tasks you might understand how to complete because it may help your company excel . It allows you to gain experience and develop you skills, which is how this internship has helped me. I gained knowledge in an area I did not know existed and I was able to develop new skills that I can now apply in my everyday life to help me become a better
I believe that I already possess many of the “soft skills.” I have acquired many of these skills through my experiences in 4-H and Boy Scouts. I believe that I possess the verbal communication skills, decision making/problem solving skills, the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, the ability to obtain and process information, the ability to analyze quantitative data, proficiency with computer software programs, and the ability to create and/or edit written reports.
At first, I was looking for an archival internship in which I could do research using primary sources. This qualification limited the internships available for me. I also wanted to get away from Western Massachusetts, because after growing up here and spending the last few summers working here at Smith, I felt like it was time for a change. I found internships at presidential libraries across the country, as well as historical societies. When I expressed my interest in archives to someone from my hometown, who work for the Clerk’s Office of the House of Representatives, she encouraged me to get into contact with the Office of the Historian. I applied for an internship in their office and was lucky enough to be chosen. The reason why I chose to work for the Office of the Historian rather than an independant archive or a historical society is because the information available through the Office of the Historian, although focused on Congress, is vast in terms of people covered, time covered, and I have no limits on my research. Another quality that I appreciated in this internship is that it seems more collaborative than other ones I was applying for. This internship requires you to work in an office, do individual research and collaborate with other historians on much larger projects. I also think that being in Washington, D.C. will allow me an enriching experience working in a place with history everywhere you look
The are various skills that would make an intern successful at the Nets. One of the most important to note is having attention to detail. Also, strong communication skills are also important as the Nets workplace is a fast paced environment. Multitasking skills would also be significant to any department at the Nets.
Not only has this internship has been a life changing experience for me in my pursuit of a career in collections management, but it has opened doors for me in the connections I made with the people that work in the State Department. I was graciously welcomed into Blair House by people whose passions align with mine. Being surrounded on a daily basis with a real sense of diplomacy and history humbles most who walk through the house. The stories that are told on the curator-led tours fascinate anyone with an interest in
