Matt Bagwell Week 7 Assignment 1) “Imagine someone placing your head in a stock. As you stare helplessly ahead, unable to defend yourself, your head is pulled back. Your lower eyelid is pulled away from your eyeball. Then chemicals are poured into the eye. There is pain. You scream and writhe hopelessly. There is no escape. “This is the Draize Test. The test which measures the harmfulness of chemicals by the damage inflicted on the unprotected eyes of conscious rabbits. The test that…cosmetic firms force on thousands of rabbits to test their products…. A healthy society does not inflict violence on the powerless; does not pursue ‘glamour’ at the expense of innocent animals.—The Millennium Guild, The New York Times, advertisement, …show more content…
I doubt that anyone thinks that everyone has a right to come on campus and recruit…. It is unlikely that many of us would want to let the Mafia come and recruit, for example. That’s because they have a reputation for killing. The military services have such a reputation as well. Essentially, when one signs a contract with the military, one signs oneself into bondage, pledged to kill on demand…. It may be said that the Mafia analogy is a spurious one, but certainly not to the many victims of the U.S. military since WW II.”—Roger Haekins, Daily Guardian, University of California, San Diego (May 15, 1999) First off let me say that this statement made me angry in a way that is very rare for me. I served in the military and I can tell you right now that at no point did anyone say, “Hey wouldn’t killing people be a fun thing to do?” I believe in the First Amendment but what this guy says is idiotic. Both the military and the Mafia have a reputation for killing people. Military recruiters should not be allowed to be at school campuses as people sign their life away to go kill people. Evaluation: The military allows killing on demand when people sign themselves into bondage. 4) High schools and colleges have added new courses and programs dealing with ethnic and gender studies. Topic Statement: Military recruiters being allowed to approach students on school property is wrong and unjust.
There are several clicks throughout the Army across the entire globe. One example that is abundant throughout the Army is that we have people in combat arms MOS that feel the more rough, nitty gritty attitude or approach is mandatory IOT ensure strict compliance on the battle field yet tends to lead to more DUI’s, EO complaints, SHARP violations and a slew of other problems. Another example is people from Ft. Bragg have extreme prejudices against non-Airborne qualified Soldiers, creating their own set of standards and rules that deviate from Army regulation. These standards are being enforced by senior commanders and senior enlisted advisors at all levels. What about personnel that have special qualifications that are prejudice towards those that don’t for example Sapper, Ranger and Pathfinder to name a few. Army regulation 600-20 states that participation in extremist organizations is inconsistent with the responsibilities of military Service, though I am not insinuating that these clicks are extremist. Yet they do single people out for certain beliefs, qualities or abilities which causes a rift throughout the Army. My plan to fix this would be to identify individuals who are not upholding what a reasonable person would consider professional then, counsel, retrain, educate through military and or civilian courses and evaluate them in a

Post 9-11 military enlistment numbers spiked because individuals wanted to serve and protect our recently attacked country and our way of life. If individuals are forced to participate in a military campaign, the government will be relieved of one of the checks that help prevent them from engaging in unpopular or unwarranted campaigns.

Offer- This is defined as a clear manifestation of willingness to enter an agreement made by another person with full understanding that their assent to the bargain is an invitation and is concluded.
Thesis: Although the U.S. military has been a leader in desegregation and in other social matters, during World War Two fear and prejudice keep many highly qualified people from serving. This weakened every branch of the military by limiting it to a less diverse and therefore less flexible fighting force.
Less than one percent of all Americans are enlisted in the military. An even smaller percentage of high school students are enlisted. Students are thought to be incompetent, and not mature enough to decide on enlisting in the military. However, students should be allowed to join the military. The military offers many benefits students can use to help their future. The protection of our country is not overlooked for recruits; they are awarded many personal benefits as well. Tuition assistance, job training, and many benefits that help prepare recruits for occupations while enlisted. Not only are students getting great benefits, but they are also in a small group of professional workers.
In the parenthesis enter the cell number and letter to find total expenses per week. (i.e.) =sum(b5:b11)
I do agree that they should have been punished for not wanting to go to war as you join the military knowing that you are trained to fight in war. I’m sure that when they joined they did not think they were going to deploy to war and just thought that they would be able to receive the benefits of being in the military. By doing this they are lacking virtues by lacking courage. Everyone has their moral beliefs, but you must set those aside in certain settings. With that being said I feel that they could of set aside their personal beliefs and went to war after all if they are against killing then they should chose a non-combat job. I must argue that joining an online group would not show courage. If they were to go out and stand up for what
