Through studying the vast effects that Abraham Lincoln had on the world during his time as president, I hope to achieve a greater understanding of what occurred, and thus what influence his actions have had on modern society. What I found particularly interesting about Abraham Lincoln before I began conducting this research journal was his ability to transform from a man with less than a year of proper education and an illiterate father, to the successful, admirable president that he became. The attributes of leadership, honesty and intelligence that he possessed provoked my interest in him, and his profound ability to lead a country, and change the way we live for the better. This encouraged me to research Lincoln and explore how he achieved success, his long lasting legacy and how it has changed society.
I will use a variety of Formative Assessments before, during, and at the end of the class to check for understanding and I will use the Exit Ticket as a final assessment.

As a matter of fact, during Lincoln’s presidency, many people believed that he was not a suitable president. After hearing his speech, they were drawn to the powerful, effective and persuasiveness he demonstrated. He included ongoing issues of both the North and the South without providing a

It was very interesting to hear the response of the students. Many said they would form alliances with other countries, while many others said they would eliminate taxes. The class then had a discussion on their responses to the question. The teacher then turned the student’s attention to a PowerPoint. The PowerPoint focused on George Washington as he became the first president of the United States. The PowerPoint discussed his inaugural address and used primary quotes. It also included the first cabinet. The teacher explained what the cabinet was and listed the names and showed pictures of the first cabinet. The class had a discussion on the role of the cabinet. Then the teacher presented the class with a video that explained how the cabinet works. The video was from president

Standards Consortium states that “From Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to state commissioners, chancellors, mayors, and the press, the language of quantitative measures has dominated the “conversation.”
The implementation of using standards has included challenges. There is a learning curve associated with the initiation of any new process for teachers, administrators, parents, and students. Additionally, this process was met with resistance from staff members and it has taken time for all staff members to embrace the benefit of the standards. http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/standards/explor_sub1.html
