Why did the Framers of the United States Constitution ultimately decided to give more power to the Federal government rather than the state governments? One topic that will be presented in this essay is the problems with the Articles of Confederation. Another topic that will be discussed is what a Federal government is, and why the Framers chose it. Also it will talk about what a State government is, and why the Framers didn’t choose it. Did the Framers do the right thing by handing over their power to the Federal government or should they have chosen the State government?
The Articles of Confederation was the first official constitution for the United States. The Articles of Confederation had many positives, but mostly negatives. Some of the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation was it was too weak, so the laws being enforced were being ignored because it had no power, it had no money to protect against border invasions, and it also didn’t have enough power to tax, so all the money came from the state. Some of the few positives of the Articles of Confederation was that it had the power to deal with foreign affairs, it could declare wars, make peace, and sign treaties. …show more content…

Those three branches of government are the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Federalists want a strong Federal government with a Constitution that has implied powers. On the other hand Anti-federalists totally disagree with the Federal government. Framers chose to create a stronger Federal government because they wanted a government that shared power and unified, while still allowing the states to control itself.
