The Founding fathers did not want to create a government with too much power so they created the Articles of Confederation. This government turned out to be a failure. In 1787, the founding fathers met again to create a new framework of government. Most people feared creating a government that was too strong. To create a new government there had to be many compromises, the U.S. Constitution is the result of these compromises reached in Philadelphia in 1787. When the Framers of the Constitution met in Philadelphia, they came together with one common purpose in mind. They needed to form a fair and solid system of government that would stand the test of time; one that was both fair for the people and would not involve a monarchy. Each of these men had their own ideas on what would constitute this system, however, so many compromises had to be made. The creation of the US constitution was prompted my many different things going on. What established America’s national government and fundamental laws is the U.S constitution. It also guarantees basic rights for its citizens. The U.S constitution was signed on September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pa. The first document before the U.S constitution was the Articles of Confederation, with that the government wasn’t very strong and the states didn’t act like they do today. In 1787, at the 1787 convention, delegates made a decision to make a stronger federal government that consisted of the executive, legislative, and the judicial branches. That wasn’t it either, it also had a system of checks and balances because they did not want one branch to be able to overpower another branch. The ten amendments of the Bill of Rights guarantees protections for people like religion and freedom of speech. In total, there are twenty-seven constitutional amendments.

The article of confederation did not give the federal government enough power, because of this there was no president and the country was only ran by congress. Without controlled power there was no currency and of course no army. After all of this wildness the constitution was created. This created a new nation because of stability and unity. The founding fathers realized that by 1789 the Articles of Confederation were petting the new nation under critical danger. The articles of confederation served as a loose union between different states and a centralized national government. The question being asked is, Why did the founding fathers change the Article of Confederation to the constitution? All of the above answers that question but the real answer to it is simply because the need for a stronger Federal government soon became apparent and eventually led to the Constitutional Convention in 1787. The structure of our American Government, was founded in the Constitution of the United States. The Constitution was written to be the “supreme law of the land”, and creates a federal democratic republic, where citizens govern themselves (Our American Governement, n.d). The purpose of our government, is to “establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” (Our American Government, n.d.). For our country to achieve this purpose our Founding Fathers created three main principles, “inherent rights, self-government, and separation of powers” (Our American Government, n.d.). Government was developed to ensure order in society and protect its citizens, but with all systems there are strengths and weakness, let’s examine those strengths and weakness. Let’s first look at the strength and weakness of the U.S. Constitution.

The idea about separation of powers is established through the three branches of government. These three branches are legislative, executive, and judicial. Document B shows that each branch has their own specific powers. The legislative branch holds power regarding the Senate and House of Representatives. The executive branch is home of the President and deals with the congress. The judicial branch has control over the supreme court and appointing judges. The three branches of government fight against tyranny by ensuring that no one branch has too much power over the other

There were many reasons for the constitution. The first reason for the constitution was that the Articles of Confederation were weak. The Articles only focused on the states individually and not as a whole country. The second reason was that the federal government needed to be limited. The federal government was too powerful for the country and so they created the constitution. The third reason was the purpose of a constitution itself. The Constitution was created to interchange the failing Articles of Confederation. In 1787 our founding father met in Philadelphia to talk about the situation that was happening in our society, therefore the Articles of Confederations were not working. How did the founding fathers set about ensuring that one one or group can control all the States? So after a long discussion, they made a decision to throw out the The Article of Confederation and make a new and improved Constitution. The First Amendment gives us the essential freedoms we as United States citizens deserve. This amendment gives us Freedom of peaceful assembly, speech, press, religion and the freedom to petition the Government. It is thought to be the most important freedom of the United States. Only because of this right we are able to speak our mind freely, pray without judgment, express ourselves, and protest peacefully. Our Founding Fathers had been Framers of the Constitution and they are responsible for all the rights documented and established in the United States.

The United States Constitution was created in fear of protecting the people that it governed from the government itself. The Framers pursued the Constitution to prevent the government that they had left behind, the Monarchy of England. After the failed Articles of Confederation, they needed a strong, balanced federal government. Leaving tyrannical England where leaders were not held accountable, disparaging towards natural rights, and lack of consent from the people it governs. The Framers were able to cultivate a constitution dedicated towards the people. They believed that consent from the governed was the only way to create legitimate governance. The Framers laid out a Constitution that would provide for a strong, national government

Federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances and the bill of rights are the four main elements that the constitution is made up of. All four of these elements are what made the constitution strong, lasting over two hundred years. Three separate branches were created that had their own specific powers. The government was then given the power to tax and enforce its laws. The structure of how this one document has governed is what makes the constitution unique. The U.S. constitution established Americas national government and fundamental laws. The constitution guaranteed certain basic rights for the citizens that were unheard of at the time. The constitution established the structure of the federal system and distribution of power between state governments. Citizens that live within the borders of the united states had their own protection of rights. Although the constitution can be flawed in some ways, the document is what had created a great nation; however, the constitution created Americas national government and laws, guaranteed rights for the citizens and continues to represent those living today which makes the constitution unique.

The Framers of the Constitution designed the constitution to establish a foundation that would assist the government lead the people and the United States. They hoped that a new form of national and long term thinking by men of prominence and motivated to serve the national public interest. “Key to ideology is an image of the people- a simple, united, political entity with the capacity as John Adams put it, to “think feel, reason, and act.” (Monrone, p.3) The people are wiser than their governors and they will solve the troubles that plague the nation. The people would be the governors, constituents, political agents, and principles. (Monrone, p.3)
