The reduction does not mean any sort of removal or quantitative loss during the treatment but the reduction is a surgical procedure in which a fractured or dislocated bone is corrected and brought to the correct alignment. So, reduction implies restoration, and the dislocated bone is brought to its initial position.
•Open reduction: In case of open reduction the tissue is dissected and the fractured fragment is exposed surgically for the treatment.
•Close reduction: In the case of closed reduction surgical exposure of the bone fragment is not necessary. The bone fragment is manipulated without any surgical exposure.
