Question
My dear hand written solution is not allowed.
3. Two air track gliders of mass 500.0 g and 300.0 g are moving towards each other in
opposite directions with speeds of 50.0 cm/s and 70.0 cm/s respectively. Assume that
the direction of the 500.0 g glider is positive.
a) If the collision is perfectly elastic, find the velocity of each glider after the collision.
b) The most inelastic collision would happen if the two gliders stuck together on impact. If
this were the case, find (i) the velocity of the pair after the collision and (ii) the kinetic
energy lost as a result of the collision.
