simplify the equation and find the roots of it

λ2-3λ-10=0λ2-5λ+2λ-10=0λλ-5+2λ-10=0λ+2λ-5=0

using the result that if ab=0

implies either a=0 or b=0

λ+2=0λ=-2λ-5=0λ=5

thus, we get two eigenvalues of the system 

λ1=-2 , λ2=5

find the eigenvectors corresponding to eigenvalues 

put λ=-2 into 4-λ23-1-λxy=00
