Abstract A strong family foundation can establish positive outcomes in children, this includes a parent and child having a good relationship. On the other side of the spectrum a family full of violence and child abuse can establish negative outcomes and consequences in a child’s well being and quality of life. The mental and psychological health of this child can be compromised due to not having a stable home. The objective is to research the relationship between child abuse and quality of life in abused children. Both male and female children will complete Scale of Abuse in Children and A Child’s Feelings Survey.

This study is designed to examine the relation between different types of child abuse by parents and the child 's quality of life.

Literature review
Child abuse and neglect are highly contested concepts, underpinned by and subject to a range of political and cultural factors particular to the society in which they occur. Therefore, child abuse and neglect are not phenomena that lend themselves to easy definition or measurement (Corby, 2006:79). In other words child abuse is very hard to define because not everyone sees an abuse the same. The measurement of an abuse conflict with that family beliefs or cultural making it hard to agree on one definition. This research will be based on three specific types of abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect. According to MedTerms the definitions to these types of abuse are as follow… Physical child abuse is physical injury inflicted upon the child with cruel and/or malicious intent. Physical abuse can be the result of punching, beating, kicking, biting, burning, shaking, or otherwise harming a child physically. It may be argued that corporal punishment is a way to have control over the child to show the child who is in charge but serious injuries like broken bones or bruises should not be justified under this theory.
