MN313 Continuous Assessment – Jack Dunphy – 12332951 (A) I will be focusing on the transnational food company ‘Nestle’ for my project in International Marketing MN313. Nestle is a Swiss food and drinks company that operates in over 195 countries supplying food, drinks and more products every single day. Nestle operates from a central headquarters based in Vevey, Switzerland where it was founded in 1905. I find it remarkable that they still operate and run their business from the same location it was founded over 100 years ago. These products are all sold on a worldwide scale which leads to huge revenue streams for the Swiss based transnational. Back in 1905, Nestle was formed by the merger of two already successful companies which were The Anglo-Swiss Milk Company and Farine Lactée Henri Nestle. This merger was to be a very successful and profitable one for both founders of the companies mentioned above. One of the main reasons Nestle was so hugely successful on account of this merger was because of both the First and Second World Wars. They provided both powdered baby food to the many millions of infants in need and also provided condensed milk for not only the soldiers involved in the war but to the huge numbers of civilians who were affected by it. Many people don’t realise it, and it took me by surprise during my research too, that Nestle is in fact one of the main shareholders in the worldwide cosmetics brand L’Oreal. I found it fascinating to learn that such a huge company like Nestle, who really have nothing to do with and have no apparent interest in cosmetics, would be such a major player in a global company like
