Sobbing is the only noise coming from Brianna Ayube’s Boston University dorm room. The cries are the only thing breaking the silence of her sleeping suite mates on this Saturday afternoon. As time goes on it grows more faint, until being interrupted by a muffled whisper. Eventually, the door opens, Brianna leads out a a girl younger than herself, who appears to be the source of the tears. “Don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything else”, Brianna says, offering one last warm hug as the young girl leaves. “And don’t worry, I will find a way to fix this, we’re in it together now.” Ayube has a genuine disposition, complimented by her welcoming personality. This secured her the position, vice president of risks, in her sorority. Ayube spends her days juggling between studying public relations and micromanaging her 150 sisters. *** Every semester her sorority throws a date party for their members. It’s held at a popular bar, that’s suited for a night of dancing, drinks and drunken appetites. Most sisters freak out over what to wear or who to ask as their date. Over 250 people attend, and even though some students are not of age, barely anyone is sober, except Ayube, who has a lot on her mind. “I have to start planning at the beginning of the semester,” says Ayube. “I have to find a venue, clear it with Boston University and Alpha Phi advisors, and then plan the whole event.” For Ayube, planning doesn 't stop at picking a dj, or finalizing a buffet menu. “I also need
As my fifteen-year-old roommate falls to pieces, panic rises in my chest like a leaping flame. She lets out muffled screams and chilling sobs as she buries her face against the pillow. I kneel beside her and whisper reassurances. “You’ll be okay.” “No one will hurt you.” I pray she hears me but I know she doesn’t. She is trapped somewhere else - somewhere she revisits every day, like a bad song stuck in her head for life.
She steals book bag and leaves. She runs away to a university. Alice asks a girl for a ride to get close to where the computer lab would be. When Alice final makes to the computer lab she realizes she needs a student ID but doesn’t have one. Luckliy a group of boys are walking down hall. When they finally reach her she asks if they could open the door for her since she “forgot to get hers”. She notices that one of the boys was familiar. Paul who use to go to her school, they had a short conversation but he didn’t recognize her.
At the start of the new school year, Millicent Arnold, a typical teenage girl, receives an invitation to join the elite and exclusive girls’ sorority at Lansing High School. Before she becomes an official member however, Millicent must demonstrate she is fit to join the sorority by finishing the initiation process: a series of ridiculous and rigorous tasks that pushes her to her limits. During a mission, Millicent discovers the nasty truth and reality of the “prefect” sorority at her high school, and ultimately decides that being herself is most important and rejects entering the sorority altogether.

Many women admit that they in fact feel safer on their own turf because they are familiar with the house, they also have the say with what happens and can have more control. While many Sorority women feel perfectly safe going to parties in Fraternity homes, there are many that do not and many that would just like the option to host a party or have over male friends. She goes onto to concluding that Fraternities and institutions are not to blame but that it comes from the national chapters, that “Panhellenic must reframe these obsolete double standards to convey that Sorority women can, and should, act as independent community
The Sorority's success is based on the depth of commitment, vision and confidence of its members. What makes AKA stand out from the rest of the organizations of the divine nine- or even organizations in general, graduate membership is by invitation only and is not solicited through our graduate chapters. Their graduate chapters host public events, such as forums, cultural presentations and social activities, so that prospective candidates can become acquainted with chapter members and learn about service activities they offer to local
Initially, a sorority can be broken down into its classical views and romantic views, but it does contain more romantic. A sorority is an organization, and with any organization you must form a foundation with rules, which is apart of the classic views. “The classic mode, by contrast, proceeds by reason and by laws---which are themselves underlying forms of thought and behavior.” (ZMM, 85-86). This foundation that they create will help an organization establish everything they want to achieve. For Alpha Chi Omega our foundation starts with our bylaws. Our bylaws contain all the rules that our members must follow in order to stay in good standing with the organization. If
“You can, you can come back,” Anna pleaded, sounding defiant, as if she believed hard enough, she could will it to happen. “I’m sure they’re fine, I’ve come back from worse than what they took that night.”
“You have me, Maria.” Anita reassures her, “and that is all you need. I understand that life is tough right now but we’ll make it through Maria, we’ll make it through together. We’ll be here for each other.”
This event was inspired by the desire to create something to invite the rest of campus can come to.
“Well you had this look of depression the whole time we were walking. Just a moment ago you let out a sigh. Is there anything you need to tell us? You know that me, Will, and Anna all care about you.”
The varying reactions of sorority girls in different settings will likely yield several different forms of measurements, and while wide-ranging field notes and descriptions will be a useful part of the data there will also be an attempt to make certain measurements of more quantitative data to serve for direct and concrete analysis across a variety of factors. Behaviors and behavior rates exhibited by individual sorority girls or "sisters," specific behavior types or rates seen more prominently in specific sororities, changes in behavior from situation to situation (again tracked by specific individuals, by specific sorority affiliation, and in the study population as a whole), and types of behavior that are specific to certain scenarios will all be observed and measured in addition to the more general qualitative descriptions that the data collection methods will produce and from which other results can be assessed. Through these measurements, an appropriate and fair assessment of sorority girls' behavior in a variety of situations and across several factors can be assessed and analyzed in a mathematical fashion rather than simply through qualitative description, adding validity to the research.
“Darlin’, I’m so sorry that happened to you of all people. You are so sweet and kind. It’s just a downright shame.” Fiona reached out to stroke Casey’s trembling hand. “Go ahead and take your time, we have all day if need be. Why don’t you tell me about your daughter? I’m sure she was lovely.”
Social drinking has turned into an important movement at most weekend school parties. Understudies look for data about the sort of mixed refreshments accessible preceding going to a gathering. Having a couple beverages has gotten to be synonymous with having a decent time. A high resistance for liquor picks up the appreciation of associates. Those that hurl after a couple beverages are mocked, including ladies. Strategic alcoholism rates are the most astounding among individuals from crews and sororities, which exhibits the need to drink to fit in with associates. It is addressed whether Greek life pulls in or makes fling consumers. "Numerous crews and sororities are useful cantinas. Completely 86% of men and 80% of ladies who live in organizations and sororities are orgy consumers,"
Who wants to spend their Saturday night at a vomit-stained high school party? In everyone else's mind, if you don’t party, you’re labeled as uncool or antisocial just because you’d rather sit at home drinking coffee, and catching up on the latest episode of Scream Queens. In a room filled with intoxicated people grinding on each other like misguided seals, you’d sit in the corner. Spilled drinks in a room full of people who could care less about you, only focusing on themselves. You can find real interests and hobbies instead of waking up with a hangover every Sunday morning.
