David is seeking a challenging academic and extra curricular environment. He has identified Rivers as a school with the characteristics that fit his needs. Seeking breadth of program and strength of student body, along with a student body that is harmonious are attributes that he desires in his high school. David thrives in an environment where relationships are important. The Rivers School culture statement represents this as one of its central elements.
David is a scholar athlete and wishes to participate in a rigorous and competitive lacrosse and ski team, and Rivers has demonstrated strength in both of these programs. He is also an academic and social explorer and we feel that these are areas where Rivers shines.

This is a book about a young woman named Sundara who is from Cambodia. Chamroeun is a guy who Sundaras parents want her to marry because it is custom in Cambodia that the parents pick who their children will marry. Sundara falls in love with Chamroeun but that has to end because he goes off to fight in the war. It is about how she lived with a group of people (tribe) and one day Khmer Rouge came and tried to take over their village, Phnom Penh. Sundara, her family and the rest of Phnom Penh ran to a boat and they sailed away, planning to go to America. Back then people from different countries were lead to believe that America was a perfect place and you could be or do anything you desired, well that obviously isn't the
The River by Gary Paulsen is a Realistic Fiction novel. The River has 133 pages. According to a customer review on Amazon, “I loved how Brian returned just to save people's lives.” I think the intended audience is for 3rd grade and up because there are some terms and words that young children won’t understand.
It’s been amazing to see Midwest’s commitment to the La Crosse community. Your passion and desire to provide a great service and products to your customers always shines through; however, your commitment to the La Crosse communities well being is even more impressive! In the School District of La Crosse we are working hard to provide an amazing education to our students and to create unique learning opportunities. As part of our district’s mission, “…to design innovative educational opportunities for all students, to give students choice, to educate the whole student, and to foster communication and collaboration with our community…”, we have been blessed with the task of opening a new charter high school. This school year we will open the doors to 7 Rivers Community High School.
For this experience, I chose to visit an elementary school and its feeder middle school. I chose this because students leave this elementary school with a high rate of student achievement, yet in middle school the scores plummet. I wanted to investigate how this gap could be minimized. Comparing philosophies, expectations and leadership styles for schools within the same community was also a goal.
Good afternoon. My name is Camryn Orosco and I am a junior at Immanuel. Mrs. Kriegbaum informed me that I could potentially write for Kings River Life, and I should contact you for more information. I am very interested in this opportunity and would appreciate if you could get back to me at your nearest convenience.
Weintraub affected his audience to feel sympathy in his article. In his work, he quotes Moyle saying, “‘We’re doing more than just bringing back a few fish into the system. We’re bringing back a river and that’s going to be amazing thing’” (Moyle 5). Moyle’s opinion provided potential to the river restoration plan, and have it seem as if it’s an accomplishment to California. If bringing the river back is shown to be something to take gratification for, then it makes people who support and who want to support feel
At 23, i had a 4 inch puncture wound to my left lung, didn't bleed externally or internally.
Describe your job responsibilities: I start my workday at 8:00 am, Monday through Friday. Once everyone gets to work, we have a brief meeting in the break room and everyone discusses what investigations they are going to do for the day. From there, I see what investigator I am going to shadow. Depending on the type of investigation (air, water, or waste), I help them get the necessary equipment or sample ice chests ready and loaded in the truck to take off. Because our region is so vast, we must travel sometimes hours to our intended destination. Once we arrive at the given site I help to the best of my abilities, if that be taking pictures, conducting measurements, writing down notes, or holding equipment. If we collect samples we drop them off at the Laredo Health Department or send them off to a lab in Houston via FedEx, then we drive back to the office.
I am reading “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Maunt.” by W.D Wetherell. This story is about a boy that has two passions, a girl and fishing. His problem is that this girl dose not like fishing, and he will do anything to not look dumb in her mind. When he finally gets a date with her he hooks the biggest fish of his life. Now he has to figure out how to balance out both of his
By using Kinney’s definitions of “subterranean stream,” the Court determined that the groundwater was a part of the Los Angeles River but employed vague terms that could be interpreted in varying ways that did not reflect the hydrological realities of the region (Sax 2003, 278). Again, if the water below the valley was legally defined as groundwater, it would be subject to absolute ownership law and Los Angeles would only be secure in the rights to the Los Angeles River (Sax 2003, 280). So, the Court asserted that geographically speaking, the Los Angeles River’s headwaters began in the mountains surrounding the San Fernando Valley; that all water that percolated into the alluvium traveled by gravity flow into the valley; and effectively all
To begin with, it would be beneficial to establish that the viewpoint I am undertaking is one in agreement with the author, David Lose. Frequently, I have pondered the accuracy of not just Biblical texts but also historical accounts on all levels. Can one be assured what they are told is truthful to the fullest extent, enough so to wholeheartedly belief the concept? The answer is no. Nonetheless, if one is not to take this information as the truth then what will they hold to such tremendous standards? Therefore, one can conclude that it is necessary to allocate for the truth to be built and understood by personal interpretation of the world through another’s perspective. Hence, as a whole we can piece together an image and recantation that
From the Rocky Mountain National Park to the mouth at the Sea of Cortez, the Colorado river supplies water for more than 35 million people in seven U.S. states: Colorado, California, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Both U.S. and American citizens depend on this river for freshwater for domestic, industrial (energy), and agricultural needs—in recent decades, the fishing industry in the area has been especially depressed as water has been used to irrigate more than 5 million acres of agricultural land in the West. Similarly, dozens of dams along the Colorado River store water and generate hydropower for millions of people. Moreover, eleven national parks lie within the watershed, and the species that once thrived in the Colorado River Delta and riparian corridor–particularly birds, fish, and plants–are severely endangered. Additionally, the lands of at least 22 Native American tribes also lie on and rely on the watershed. Outdoor recreators and conservationists are of course also affected by the poor health of the river.
The boy at the river changes from the beginning to the end because in the beginning the boy was very stubborn and annoyed about Sal,Gram, and Gramps being there in the river and telling them that it was private property even though it wasn’t. But when Gram gets hurt he immediately starts sucking and spitting to get the venom out and then when they get to the hospital he starts feeling a little bad and even refuses to take $50 from Gramps and also even admits that it wasn’t private property. In the book it states,”He looked at the fifty-dollar bill tin my hand. ‘I don’t need it.”... He said,’ It wasn’t really private property.’” (creech 89). This piece of evidence shows that the boy changed from the begging to the end by being greedy in the
I feel like David and My stories are similar to each other. I do look back on my past, present, and future because I’m like what if I did this, what if I did that and maybe I should have talk to someone why I didn’t like the class and if I did talk to someone maybe I like that class better and put all my effort in it I would felt like I succeeded .
Mom’s reaction would be different from Catherine’s if David were asking her for colored pencils. Catherine asked Mom for new colored pencils because her crimson and indigo colors were only 2 inches long. Mom told Catherine she could earn extra money for herself by babysitting. Catherine highly believes David will get a different reaction from Mom due to the fact that people expect very little out of David when people will expect a lot more from Catherine. When Catherine went over to ask the neighbors if they would join them for lunch, she is forced to go back home due to an overreacting David. David is whining like a little baby due to a bee that flew on his neck. David is lying on Mom’s lap. This shows that Mom would do anything for David
