Evidence proves this when the European settlers began colonizing America and making the Native American people their slaves. It didn’t stop there, discrimination and racism was even more apparent when the Jim Crow Laws were passed. The Jim Crow Laws enforced segregation between the whites and the African Americans. For years, the unlucky Americans of all races, colors, and sexual orientation have endured discrimination at some point in their lives. One major issue that many Americans endure is discrimination in the work place. Throughout the years, learning how to avoid discrimination has become a priority.
Police chief Crystal Moore of Latta, South Carolina had to experience her own battle with discrimination. Chief Moore has been the Police Chief of Latta County for 23 years when she was fired for reasons believing related to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender or LGBT lifestyle. Chief Moore is an openly Lesbian Police Chief who has not encountered any issues prior to being fired by Mayor Earl Bullard. Mayor Bullard had become Mayor this year, in 2016. When Mayor Bullard was questioned about the termination of police chief Moore, he claimed it was due to the seven reprimands of questionable behavior, difficulty with maintaining order and other reasons that were not disclosed. America has had discrimination against minorities for a long time and it will continue to have it until people treat minorities with respect. Discrimination is when people treat minorities bad because of their skin color, ethnicity and the place they were born. For immigrants, the problems they had to arrive to America were not a good experience only by the struggle to gain acceptance among the population. Most immigrants came to the U.S. to have a better life and give education to their children. Almost all immigrants have experienced discrimination at some point in their life and even some are still experiencing it today. Workplace diversity is beneficial in many ways and on a variety of levels. When a workforce is comprised by people of different races, religions, genders, cultural origins, and sexual orientations, this allows a company to draw from the experience and knowledge that may be unique to each group, widening its frame of reference. Additionally, in terms of recruitment, this ‘widening of the net’ goes to insuring that the company appeals to more individuals and increases the likelihood that the company has opportunity to hire the most qualified individuals. Systemic racism occurs when policies and practices exist is institutions that discriminates against and excludes one group or exclusively fosters another. The system is setup so that it doesn't need individuals to discriminate themselves because it is structured so that discrimination is omnipresent. Systemic racism is responsible for the inequity of schools between poor minority neighborhoods and rich white neighborhoods, because it puts restraints on their ability to learn and what they learn, which then hinders their ability to attain equal status.

Abstract- Racial discrimination happens all the time and most of us are unaware of it. The most common place for this to happen is in the workplace. Now people can be discriminated against because of their race, religion, or any other numerous things. Also, discrimination can occur during the job interview or even after you got the job. This paper will shoe the effects of racial discrimination and how it can be prevented. In addition there are some very important laws that deal specifically with discrimination, like the NAACP or Affirmative Action. These both will be discussed.
Throughout this class, Religion, Race, and Discrimination in America, we have learned how racism came about with many different theories. Religion can be defined as, a belief or worship in a higher power, normally a God or Gods. Race can be defined as social grouping or form of peoplehood that is marked by traits that are perceived to be biologically inherited.
