The Hero’s Journey What is the true definition of a hero? Well it’s definitely not always as great as stopping a bomb, or stopping a psychotic villain, it can simply be finishing chores.. I myself can be described as a hero, because I moved, overcame my shyness, and now got many great friends and I don’t live in a sketchy area anymore. See, the story doesn’t necessarily need to be as great as Batman stopping the Joker, it simply has to be defeating a conflict. My (Great Great) Aunt Ferol has always stayed fairly social with my family, and unlike my Great Grandma she actually accepted my family. However when my Grandma was 15 her parents divorced and her mother got full custody of her. My great grandmother eventually grew depressed, this affected my grandmother’s attitude and all her siblings attitudes too, so the fighting grew worse. Soon my grandmother was noticed by a few girls and they let her hang out with them. Her attitude grew more positive and she knew this is the effect she wanted to rub off on other people growing up with the same problems. My grandmother is now the most successful sibling (she tried helping her siblings but being as she was the youngest, they didn’t want to listen to her), and unfortunately due to my great grandmother being so depressed she stopped taking care of herself and grow deathly sick as a result, she died when I was eight years old. My grandmother’s siblings still are vain and quite rude to my grandma. A hero is a person who went through conflict. There are many parts of the hero’s journey and they are all shown in nearly every hero story. Not all heroes are the same but they all have something in common, that is the Hero’s Journey. One thing you can learn from all these heroes is don’t ever give up, because even if you fail in the end you can at least say you gave it your
