Medical and Health Services Managers/Administrators are people who handle the business side of the health care field. These workers can also be called "health services executives, health- care administrators, [or] health services managers" (Source 6). They can work in any health related business of any size. Examples of these places are hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and private practices. Facilities like these can range from supporting a handful of physicians, and treating few patients, to supporting hundreds of physicians and treating thousands of patients. Medical and Health Services Managers/Administrators do not work to treat patients one on one, however they do make sure that those patients are receiving the best care possible

The field of healthcare administration is a vastly diverse field. The ranges in roles vary from medical receptionist, coordinators, and clinical professionals to administrators. Even with in the administrator role there is a range of specialty positions, however there are some base line qualifications which individuals must have before they may be able to move into a specialty administrator role. The minimum qualifications for a healthcare/hospital administrators are 5-7 years of similar executive-level management experience in an academic health setting, preferably in a department of similar size and scope; must have extensive experience in medical center finances, budget preparation and control, personnel management and information systems;

I’m intrigued and eager to learn all I can about health administration. I plan to earn a Master’s degree in Health Administration, which I will use to further my career with DaVita dialysis as a Group Facility

Health care administrators play a critical role in demanding medical field. There are many challenges and benefits within the administrator role. A great health care administrator can transform the healthcare organization. Within this in mind, Dionne Epstein agreed to conduct in-person interview to discuss her insight regarding the healthcare industry. She even worked at Charity Hospital during and post-Katrina here in New Orleans, Louisiana. The American Hospital Association (AHA)represents a large number of member hospitals. This group has a significant voice in policy making. The CEO and CMO should actively engage the AHA and participate in efforts to present the issues to CMS. This engagement needs to be proactive and direct. There needs to active participation with AHA committees and task forces that are involved in this process. The System need to provide the resources need to facilitate this participation. The organization depends on the Hospital Administrator to keep interaction with the community and relay solutions to any problems that may arise (Wolfe, 2013). The service of program development also impacts the hospital either positively or negatively. The organization depends on the administrator to keep ahead of development and always think outside the box for new innovative ideas from medical treatments all the way to managerial structure to improve the performance of the organization as a whole. Finally, the organization is dependent on all of its employees to function and is very dependent on the administrator not only to hire the best employees, but also retain the employees, and evaluate the employees as necessary to keep them functioning at their highest capacity (Wolfe, 2013).

A health care administrator is responsible for establishing health care standards, making strategic policy decisions and implementing the personnel management procedures necessary to support his/her vision. In addition to the internal leadership they provide, health care administrators are leaders within the greater community as well. They partner with other health care organizations, comply with government regulations, advocate and testify on behalf of health care

Political: The Governor of Florida appoints seven members to the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners to serve four-year terms. These seven board members then determine the President and CEO that will act as the leader and figurehead of the organization. The President and CEO is the head of Memorial Healthcare System’s executive department. Additionally, the board plays a role in the development of the regulations, policies, and bylaws of the South Broward Hospital District to ensure that the quality of care provided by every hospital remains satisfactory. Additional executive staff members are appointed by the CEO to manage the operation of the various branches of the Memorial Healthcare System located across the South Florida area.

According to Gostin, (2001) “healthcare administrators have commitments and obligations to patients or other served to provide the best quality of care”. Healthcare administrators also have the responsibility to themselves, to their organization, to the clientele served by the organization, and to the employees who provided services at the organization to protect patients’ rights and their privacy.

Healthcare management is a great, complex, and dynamic field. Like any business, healthcare requires exceptional administration to keeps its operations effective and smooth. Notably, the healthcare field is constantly growing, calling for the expertise of skilled administrators with the capacity to manage hospitals. Since my childhood, I have enjoyed solving problems, helping people, caring about the community and individuals, and having an excellent compensation and growth opportunities.

Wow Hospital (WH) managers also called healthcare executives or healthcare administrators, plan, direct, analysis and coordinate medical and health services. They might manage an entire facility or specialize in managing a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of physicians. Medical and health services managers must be able to adapt to changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and technology.

People see hospitals as a place where one goes for healing and medical care, but hospitals are businesses that healthcare administrators have the responsibility of maintaining. Healthcare administrators’ responsibilities include many aspects related to patient care. Some of those aspects are social and public policy and the technical management of healthcare delivery in hospitals. Unfortunately, healthcare administrators are faced with many challenges as well. One of the growing challenges that healthcare administrators are facing is the shortage of healthcare professionals.
