Management is important in any environment, but especially so in the healthcare field.  As the health care system continues to evolve, sound management is critical to the survival of health care institutions (Johnson, 2005). The management team in a healthcare environment must always aim to improve the efficiency of the day to day activities and constantly plan for ways to improve the productivity and efficiency. Health care administration is a professional challenging environment with some of the most critical issues and problems in our society. Health care administration combines my knowledge and experience in business and health care. My accomplishments are a result of my ability to assess situations, generate a plan of action, and work the plan. Following is my plan of action for my career in health care:

“Follow your passion; it will lead you to your purpose,” Oprah Winfrey. My passion leading me to a degree in healthcare management has been the love I have for my son. Becoming a single mother, shortly before my son turned two-years-old, was life altering. Moving back in with my family, realizing I had no income, and no longer the team effort from his father, was an indescribable sense of failure as a parent.

I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.

Grace Pettigrew, my mother who is 67 years old received a $1,101.00 pension check once a month with no other income or assistance from the governments’ states that she is unable to afford health care insurance and that she over qualify for government assistance. The Medicare plan is expensive and would leave Grace short on bills or food. Therefore, my mother rely she said on community based services at a hospital in Georgia name Grady Memorial Hospital Grace (2012). The reduce plan for the hospital card is based on her income and charges he $20.00 for office visits with no deductibles to meet and three dollars for her medication. Grace (2012) describe her experience with health care services and providers as being good and because this is all she can afford that there are no complaints except for she would like to go to doctors of her choice. Unfortunately, this is not an advantage because no other doctors are willing to take on patients who do not have insurance coverage. Grace (2012) states that she has never seen so many medical offices and that there are hospitals in every neighborhood. My mother is not sure how these facilities make their money where there are so many people without jobs or insurance. According to my mom Grace (2012), People would have to call and maybe wait days for a doctor to make it to your home if there were an emergency but not

According to McConell (2012), the difference in a leader and a follower determines the success of a person regarding leadership. This chapter helps explain the content of qualities and proficiency for healthcare managers to be effective. Once again, effective management skills or certain qualifications enhance a healthcare organization environment. Healthcare managers and supervisors must have the capacity to handle challenges while the organization objectives and regulations may change over a period of time. Personal values play a crucial part in a person’s everyday decision making. It is important to find a place of work that integrates similar values and morals that you personally believe to avoid daily conflicts and dilemmas. This author needs a workplace that is full of integrity. You need to be able to trust your employer, and have your employer trust you. Honesty is important in the healthcare profession. This author needs a truthful environment even if mistakes are made, that is the only way to correct them. This author believes in doing what is right for the patient. In the healthcare field you are faced with daily dilemmas, regardless of the situation, the answer should always be what is going to help the patient

Hospital Administrators (HAs) are responsible for planning, supervising, and directing the delivery of healthcare within the hospital setting. HAs are also in charge of ensuring the hospital operates in a cost-effective manner while safeguarding the medical care received by the patients. Job responsibilities of HAs include recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of providers, residents, nurses, and also assistant administrators ( ). HAs plan budgets and also set the rates for the healthcare services which are being delivered to the patients within the hospital setting.

Healthcare administration has always been an interest of mine. Recalling my childhood visits at the hospital, I was always aware of how the organization held the hospital together. Each of the staff has their specific duties and rely on each other in order to maintain a stress-free environment for patients. Nevertheless, hospital visits can still make patients puzzled, whether it be the administrative area or navigating the hospital. Consequently, hospitals are constantly evolving to make experiences less mentally wearing in all aspects. Furthermore, with the advancements in technology to benefit patient care and administrative duties, the changes are apparent. In witnessing these advancements I can only hope I am able to be a part of this

Healthcare is shifting, and the need for producing quality and affordable health services is a top preference for most healthcare organizations. Vital healthcare management skills such as efficiency, organization or product's effectiveness, balance, crucial decision-making and strategic planning has now become few of the many skills that a leader needs. As a prospective leader, one of my short-term career aims is to obtain an administrative fellow and become an active healthcare service advocate dedicated towards public health supplies management, health service waste reduction, and supply allocation.

Managers in the healthcare business are always seeking answers to key questions about how to better patient care. They are held accountable to make decisions and implementation that typically require research and funds. They have to consider all options to improve performance for healthcare facilities. Wrong information and research could lead to healthcare mistakes, but involving patients and their families keep awareness of changes, disseminating information no matter critical or nonsense. Wow Hospital (WH) managers also called healthcare executives or healthcare administrators, plan, direct, analysis and coordinate medical and health services. They might manage an entire facility or specialize in managing a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of physicians. Medical and health services managers must be able to adapt to changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and technology.

During the term of this class I’ve learned several topics that will advance my career in health care administration. A health administrator is a person that manages the delivery and service of health care. This position handles finance, admission, organizational functions, and employee personnel. In Foundations of Health Care Administration, this class has taught me strategies on scholarly/professional writing and specific strategies for a health care administration in the master’s program.

When we went to the hospitals and clinics whether the visit is for an emergency or for a monthly check up, all we see is doctors, nurses and care givers who are working front line in the health care industry . We tend to forget about the other professionals such as managers and executives, who are actually play important role managing the organization and making health services available and accessible to the people. According to Haddock, McLean, & Chapman (2002), early hospital administrators were called superintendents, and the nurses and doctors were responsible for any administrative decisions. The University of Chicago established the first graduate program in hospital administration

Management as it relates to the health services realm requires a deep understanding of coordinating the delivery of healthcare. One must be able to utilize frameworks to recognize and develop solutions to challenges within managing healthcare. My desire to become a health services manager (HSM) spawns directly from this concept of identifying an issue and being able to present interventions and approaches to improve the overall quality of life for communities.
