How Did Jay Kill Hae Min Lee

Adnan Syed was a golden boy to people; he was smart and loved by everyone. He never thought he’d be convicted of his ex-girlfriend’s murder, neither did anyone else. In fact, when he first received a call from the cops regarding Hae’s disappearance he brushed it off, more scared at that fact that he was high on marijuana and talking to a police officer. He thought Hae had just ran off to California, just like everyone else. However, when they found her body in a park notorious for being a body dump his whole world turned upside down. Soon after this a friend of his, Jay, confessed to the police into helping Adnan with Hae’s murder which then put Adnan behind bars. However, was Jay’s testimony true? Unfortunately Adnan’s case has many flaws and lies to it, and the true answer still remains; is Adnan Syed actually innocent or guilty all along?

Wilds, a former friend of Adnan Syed, claims that Adnan had killed Hae. Wild’s story goes as follows: On the day of Hae’s disappearance, Adnan gives Jay his phone and his car so Jay could pick him up after he had done the “deed”. Adnan was to ask Hae if he could have a ride home, since his car was broken down. Adnan calls after the murder has been committed for Jay to come pick him up at Best Buy, which Jay does. Jay and Adnan then proceed to drive around for a while before Jay returns Adnan back to track practice. After track practice, both people bury Hae in Leakin Park. There are many holes within Jay’s story. In fact, his story changes at least 6 times. Detectives taped two of Jay’s interviews out of four, stories told in these interviews do not match up. The most prominent lie Jay has told in his interviews is where Adnan had first revealed Hae’s body in the trunk of her car. The first time he says that this happened on Edmonson Avenue and the next time he says that it was at Best Buy. One interview Jay states that Westview mall was where him and Adnan went on January, 13; the next interview Jay claims they went to Security Square Mall. Imagine being in prison for 15 years, convicted for a murder that had extremely little physical and forensic evidence against you. This was one of the numerous holes and facts that Sarah Koenig discusses in Serial that doesn’t match up in the murder case of Hae Min Lee. On January 13th, 1999, a seventeen year old student in Baltimore, Hae, disappears after school one afternoon. Her body was found in Leakin Park on February 9th, 1999, and was manually strangled. Adnan Syed, her ex-boyfriend, was arrested and eventually convicted of murdering her. The unusual aspect about this murder case is that there are many holes in the story that doesn't make sense. Koenig describes how the investigation was not done quite right. For instance, the map book that was in Hae’s car had a partial fingerprint of Adnan’s finger on it. But the investigators never looked for anyone else’s fingerprints. Or they pulled the phone tower records that went along with Jay’s inconsistent story. Even though those phone tower records went along better with Adnan’s story. If the investigators used those phone records to work with Adnan’s story, then Jay would be more of a suspect then Adnan. Those phone calls also show that only one call was made to Adnan’s friend, the rest were made to Jay’s friends. This would also make Jay more of a suspect, because it would show how Jay could be coercing with different people in order to execute the murder of Hae and then hide her body. But the one phone call to Adnan’s friend is suspicious too, it was too long to be an accidental butt dial, but if Adnan is innocent then there was no reason to call his friend out of the blue. Another crucial piece of evidence that might have been overlooked in the time line, it is thought that the murder was committed right after school in a 20 minute time period. These 20 minutes include getting out of school, driving to the Best Buy, killing Hae, call Jay, moving the body, and get to track practice. Koenig followed the timeline, and showed how it was not possible. The prosecution presented this timeline, but no official ever tested it out to see if it was possible. An innocent woman was murdered and now an innocent man will take the blame. Adnan Syed did not commit the murder of Hae Min Lee. Jay Wilds is lying about the fact that he saw and assisted Adnan in committing the murder. All of the facts presented point to the innocence of Adnan Syed.

Some people might argue that Jay was the murder and not Adnan and vice versa. Still to this day people don't know what exactly went on that day but Adnan has more evidence then Jay. This leads many people to believe that Adnan was the killer of hae’s death.

The story of serial narrated by Sarah Koenig is about a kid named Adnan Syed he was accused of a murder and he got a life sentence in jail. He said he was innocent but people didn't believe him. Adnan is a Muslim kid who got accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Jay wilds is a key witness who said he helped Adnan bury Hae’s body and Adnan told Jay he was going to kill Hae. This story is interesting because there are many people who think that Adnan would have never done something like that. I believe that Adnan Syed is Innocent of the murder of Hae Min Lee because a girl him a letter and it said he was in the library when Hae went missing.

Adnan is the real murderer of Hae. He is the murderer because Adnan told one thing to one officer then told another one something different, He told officer Adcock that the day she went missing he asked her for a ride, and that could have been an excuse to get into her car and kill her. Then, on page 2 of chapter 6 it states that Adnan told another officer that he did not ask her for a ride. This means that Adnan may have been trying to cover up the fact that he did ask her for a ride. This matters because why would he first say that he did ask her for a ride but then later say that he did not, What was he trying to hide if there should not be anything to hide.

Our memory tends to change effortlessly because it receives information frequently. Accordingly, Jay’s memory of the events alters in a normal manner, but Adnan is constant throughout all of his interviews. There’s no way that someone can remember something without even a small change. He’s thought to have planned the murder, so he must’ve also planned a story to tell the police if he was caught. Jay had criminal history which could’ve made him the perfect scapegoat. Adnan made Jay an associate to murder for the purpose to draw all the attention onto him. Furthermore, if he wasn’t guilty why didn’t anyone testify in his favor? In episode 1, Asia reported that she and two friends were at the library the moment Adnan was there. He must’ve given these students a reason to not confess the truth. It was extremely strange that an anonymous caller told the police to question the ex-boyfriend and he’s been with Hae at Leakin’ Park before. Adnan told the police he wouldn’t have a reason to ever go to Leakin’ Park because of the

First of all, Adnan had an alibi and a witness to confirm this alibi, Asia. There were letters found, written by Asia, that said she had seen Adnan in the library at the time of Hai's murder. However, this evidence was not used during the trial to help Adnan's case. Later on when Sarah Koenig contacted Asia she was informed that Asia and Adnan had actually had a brief conversation the day she saw him in the library.
