In order for a software system to be considered ERP, it must provide a company with functionality for more than one system. Small types of ERP systems, like QuickBooks, cover only two functions of an organization (usually HR and Accounting). If we don’t know what an ERP is then it will be hard to understand SAP software. What is SAP ERP software?
The abbreviation SAP stands for Systems Applications and Products for data processing.

Enterprise resource Planning (ERP) is any integrated cross-functional software that reengineers manufacturing, distribution, finance, human resources and other basic business processes of a company to improve its efficiency, agility and profitability.1 On an initial view, an ERP system appears to be the cure for any company’s issues. The installation of such a system offers an organization the opportunity to re-structure their procedures, to coordinate branches’ systems in other geographic locations, unify information and inspire employees via granting them permission to company information. Now these chances exist at heightened costs financially. There are also implementation horrors and labor issues with which must be dealt with. A
This paper is an attempt to understand why TS Group chose JDE over SAP, SYSPRO, and Microsoft Dynamics. Within this paper all four ERP products (JDE, SAP, SYSPRO and Microsoft Dynamics) are evaluated for their strengths and weaknesses. From this evaluation a hypothesis is made as to why TS Group preferred the JDE ERP system. Considering any consultants available for these products, an argument is presented as to which constituents (stakeholders) had the most influence on this decision.
Today Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is extensively adopted by many organizations regardless of kind and size, mainly because it provides enterprise-wide view of information across all their business operations and help organizations achieve consistency across all their functional departments. An ERP system integrates an organization’s data and services in a single system. ERP systems combine computer hardware and software during the process of integration. One thing most ERP systems have in common is the use of a single database that is used to store information for different system components. To obtain an ERP status, a given software package must successfully function as at least two systems. For example, a software package can hypothetically be considered an ERP system if it can execute human resources and financial functions.
It is at the receiving end of other SAP components and maintains an account of all the inputs from them.
All these make the implementing the SAP way not that simple as this is a pilot project and Daimler AG is the first one
The ERP implementation involved several phases with an objective of attaining office automation, product data management, and an executive manufacturing system. In addition, the company needed to create an efficient connection between the vendors and customers. The first stage encompassed the computerization of the enterprise. During this step, a planning process revealed the necessity for an ERP to automate and standardize operations. The second phase identified an ERP vendor. Priorities for selection included the level of sophistication and the variety of offered features. SAP won the tender as it met all the requirements.
