ISO 9001 is a Quality management standard which is recognised internationally and used by organizations worldwide. It can be used by business of all sizes, it provides an effective quality management system. It was first published in 1987 (updated 1994, 2000, 2008). The latest version was published in 2015. Check Sheets
Check sheets are tools which contains a collection of items and an indicator which shows how often each item on the list occurs. It makes the data collection process easier by categorizing events that are likely to occur. The performance of check sheet can be amplified if it is used with other tools such as Histograms and Pareto analysis. “Ishikawa estimated that 80% to 90% of all workplace problems could be solved using only the simple quality improvement tools”. The various types of check sheets are Recording check sheet, check list, Process check sheets, Defect check sheets, Stratified defects check sheets, Defect location check sheet, Cause and effect diagram check sheet. (Thomas Pyzdek 2015)
1. Recording Check Sheet
It is a simple form of check sheet used to collect measured or counted data in a tabular form. Data is collected by making tick marks. It can be broken down to show shift, day or month. One precaution to be taken is to leave enough room to write individual measurements.

A checklist has to be created by someone for a specific task and all you have to do is check the box. There is more to know, more to manage, more to keep track of today then ever before. More systems to learn and unlearn as new ones come online. More emails, more calls and therefore more distractions. On top of that there is more to get right and more to learn and this, of course, creates more opportunity for mistakes. In order to deal with the complex world and all of the complexity professionals face now days struggling to stay afloat, Atul Gawande wrote a book called, “The Checklist Manifesto” in order to share his solution to the complex problem of human fallibility. His solution to the extreme complexity of the our daily and professional life is to create a checklist and simplify the step by step process. The book provides several examples from different industries in order to prove the point that checklist results in greater efficiency, consistency, and safety.
A checklist can be used either on a regular basis or as and when difficult issues have been dealt with. This checklist can be used to monitor approach, effect the approach had. An honest assessment requires honest reflection.
ISO 9001:2008 sets the requirements on the quality procedures and their content in sections 4.2.3, 4.2.4, 8.2.2, 8.3, 8.5.2, and 8.5.3.
The Checklist Manifesto by Dr. Atul Gawande explains how checklists have become a critical tool in managing complex situations in major industries such as finance, construction and medicine and its profound implications on them. He begins by differentiating between the two causes of human failures: 1. ignorance which he defines as the things we still don’t know and therefore cannot do despite advances in science and knowledge and 2. ineptitude which he defines as our failure to properly apply the knowledge we have. Checklists are to ensure mistakes are not made, they should not be a distraction. If a checklist is too long, Gawande states, they become a distraction. Steps get missed or skipped and mistakes get made, so keep the checklist short. It should be five to nine items (Gawande 123). That might seem difficult, if there is a field where a checklist is needed in the first place, won’t the checklist have to be long? The short answer is no; the long answer is to only keep those items that the expert never fails to do. The “killer items” are the items that are dangerous not to do yet are somehow overlooked. Pilots, for example, never fail to let the stewardess know what is happening in an emergency situation, so that does not need to be included in a checklist
Checklists have been in wide use within various fields from medicine, construction, aviation, investing, software and many others. It can be used as a guideline when there is need to verify that a particular set of steps were followed. With checklists, we are able to perform simple repetitive tasks in a consistent way. Complex tasks can also be done with minimal errors when checklists are used. A checklist is a comprehensive list of important steps that need to be followed in a particular order so as to successfully complete a process.
Checklists may sound well and fine for business flying and solution however business is much excessively complex for Checklists, making it impossible to be practical. Indeed, consider the universe of money where investors are continually underweight to purchase stock in the following huge thing before it really gets to be effective. This is the challenge which confronts "Value Investors" who are not attempting to time the business sector or coattail any theoretical air pocket which may be preparing in the business sectors. These investors are essentially attempting to purchase offers in under perceived, underestimated organizations and to remain contributed for the long run.

“ISO is commonly known as ‘International Organization for Standardization’, the ISO 9001:2000 standard is used for quality systems audited by outside auditors.
