In my initial post, I wanted to learn more about myself and those that I am around daily. In fact, I should have given more detail since I am interested in learning about how to communicate effectively with different personality types because I supervise many different individuals. In reality, I feel that this will give me a gateway to evaluate myself as a teacher and learn what works best for each employee. Also, we find that when we understand the people that we are around it makes us more effective leaders which can lead to a more successful workplace (Dibra, 2014). However, I have found that this class offered so much more than I first realized. During the last four weeks, we have discussed that sleep plays such a significant role in repairing our bodies, sleep deprivation can cause serious health issues, the beauty industry and environmental factors can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle, and the differences in the parenting styles. We have covered several areas in our comment section that consist of how the mind and nervous system are associated by having overlapping patterns of activity, how brain trauma can affect an individual and the discussion of neuroscience as it relates to the criminal justice system (Cacioppo & Freberg, 2013). Also, we have learned how the …show more content…
I say this because of the information that we will take with us and the impact it has made during our weekly department meetings at work. We start off each session by discussing the topic from the class that I am involved in at the time. I have to say that this Psychology course has been a big hit for all of us. We have learned more about each other in these last four weeks than I could have ever imagined. Now I know why my employees are always tired at work :). I hope that this learning curve continues so that we build a bond that will provide a healthy work environment for each
The first assignment consisted of creating a Bitmoji that represented how I thought I looked, and my personal identity behind the clothing I choose. When it came to what type of clothes we decided to choose, it boiled down to the notion that different sub cultures we associate ourselves in amongst society influence how we present ourselves through clothing. This led to myself choosing an outfit that consisted of a more relaxed style that reflected my own personal identification to the subcultural of athletics and sports. This could also be seen through my short haircut that follows a stereotypical expectation placed on guys in society. My haircut emphasized the importance of gender and its effects on all people across society.
When given group work to do, John often becomes unfocused and is found talking to other students about material that is unrelated to the task.
In regards to my current life stage, I am a young adult and almost all of my financial income is paid in wage from my occupation as a lifeguard. As I am not a parent of any kids, my financial expenses consist of paying for food, clothing, transportation, and school fees. Therefore, most of my expenses are centered around myself and focuses on future career plans to eventually increase my income as I will be able to attain a profession after acquiring a college education. Presently, I have not surrounded myself with assets because I have not acquired my college degree or decided upon a profession; as a result, I would not be able to search for appropriate assets.
I have searched the internet and I am not able to find anything in the thickness and size they are requesting. I also called one company that stated they have never heard of that thickness.
Learning is the individual growth of person and new understanding around us as a result of cooperative interaction and sharing the experiences with others. I will start describing what I learnt from interaction in pair and group after detailing how I met my partner and group. I met my partner Nuttanun on Wednesday July 8, 2015 virtually because we both were not able to attend the first class due to rescheduling issue. She approached me by email and we exchanged our phone numbers. We decided to meet in person on Thursday at 6:00 pm to understand and discuss the class we missed. We introduced each other and talked about our profession and personal lives for about an hour and then we discussed the reading material given to us. We discussed it for more than 30 minutes. After discussion we decided to fill out Engaging Across Differences sheet and passed on to each other. On Friday, we met again to answer our discussion board questions and talked about our plans for weekends. My group consist of four members
In 2011 I decided upon a career change away from a fast paced sales environment and towards my ambition of becoming a teacher. Since leaving school in 1997 I worked for a small family run architectural hardware company. In my final role with the company my main duties included travelling the country giving seminars to architects and building contractors. It was during the development and delivery of these seminars that I realised I had a passion for teaching. The development of my industry based presentations was thorough and took into account the differing abilities and background of my audience. With constantly shifting standards and regulations, Power Point presentations to create for each session and handouts for the individuals in attendance
I am a lifelong musician and entrepreneur. I am 52 years young and have been a vocalist since I can remember, a keyboardist for over 25 years, and entrepreneur for just as long. I have also always been someone’s secretary, administrative assistant, bookkeeper, office manager, booking agent, and spouse and mother for about 24 years of that journey. Growing up in southern California, I have performed most styles of music and sung/played in a variety of bands and ensembles since 1980. I have covered female vocalists from the 30s and 40s through current artists. I moved from southern California to rural western Colorado in 1993 and things are unique here. In 2009, I wrote and co-produced my CD, Mosaic, with musicians in Nashville with the help of Lorna

1. Well, to begin with, most importantly, I like to learn in a peaceful and calm surrounding because that helps in building concentration. I don't like a messy work area because it causes a distraction, so I try to make the area organized if possible. I get distracted easily so, if I am studying near a window, I close the blinds so I won't look outside, turn off the radio, television, etc. I start going through will all easy questions, then I work on the harder questions. Every time I think that I am tired or been studying for a very long time, I take a 30-minute break and I make sure that I am not over-doing it, that way I can take in the best.
This project in general was kind of fun. It’s better than some of the past assignments we've had. So it might be interesting if we had future assignments similar to this, because it involves a group & I like group work, because it gets done faster. My group was fair and on task. All of us did what we had to do, because we all care about grade. Since we all care about grade a lot, we completely focused on the assignment. No one was ever off task, and that was good, because we needed to get this assignment done. Another good things is, we never argued. I’m glad this happened, because if it did we would have never finished and that would have been bad. Throughout the whole assignment my group and I had perfect communication skills with one another
Team level – I often look for opportunities to enhance my team’s potential by offering training, support, and constructive feedback. I also advocate for my employees’ career goals by delegating different projects to help improve their visibility.
In summary, this course has really educated my view of being a teacher as well as being able to interact with today’s diverse and fluctuating educational setting. Therefore, the discussions were very good ways in understanding how
Our class information and materials completely support and enrich this field experience. I know one thing for sure is I am going to start my classroom management plan right now ~ starting with behavioral management!
Plotting my exam scores on a graph to see my performance on a subject was an activity back in my school. The ups and downs on the graph helped me identify my positives and negatives. As a kid, this kindled my passion towards analytics. While studying engineering at Kumaraguru College of Technology, I had to carry out various analyses for my experiments and projects. This further developed my interest in analytics. Being a part of the League for Entrepreneurial Empowerment and Development (LEED), gave me an opportunity to start a business at college.
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.
