Over the years’ volunteers,’ services have increased tremendously. These stakeholders participate in leadership roles in nonprofit and profit groups. Volunteers exert influence in the organizational decision-making process because their particular task gives them the authority to exhibit their skills. For example, I am a board member at a local nonprofit hospital. I collaborate with other volunteers offering advice and services that help influence the hospitals' daily operation, while improving my leadership and decision-making skills in the process. For example if you work in the Labor and Delivery Department, you get forms from the volunteer office to the actual labor and delivery halls where the mothers are with their newborns. There forms are filled with the name of the mother’s way of delivery her baby’s gender and date of delivery. Sometimes the in different departments the volunteers are asked to do different things. The volunteers sometimes may not be doing their work. Many volunteers “help improve the reputation of volunteers worldwide by doing what you say you'll do, whether it's honoring the volunteer role and schedule you'd agreed to, providing ample notice if you're unable to perform your tasks or responsibilities, saying no or stepping away from volunteering when necessary, or simply serving as a good representative of the organization in the community” (A Volunteer's Bill of Rights and Responsibilities). This is evidence that when the volunteers are getting away with things that shouldn’t be doing, are forgetting why there are spending their time at the hospital and why they shouldn’t be given more to do. Collaboration among organization members and community stakeholders is very important, we must begin to study and understand nonprofits not merely as organizations housed within four walls but as catalysts that work within, and change, entire systems. The most effective of these groups employ a strategy of leverage, using government, business, the public, and other nonprofits as forces for good, helping them deliver even greater social change than they could possibly achieve alone (Crutchfield, 2012). The fourth nonprofit I analyzed is called GreaterGood which is an online website that sells a wide range of products that have been made across the world and uses the profit generated by sales to donate to a variety of different nonprofits that have a specific mission (Help, 2015, p.1). The specific nonprofits that GreaterGood donates to breast cancer, animal rescue, veterans, autism, diabetes, the rainforest, and the one that is specific to my area of analysis the hunger site. This style of nonprofit expressed by the GreaterGood charity is extremely unique because of the extreme differences in charities they are partners with. With the multiple charities they work with I would be confident in arguing that the GreaterGood-hunger site is a path-goal leadership style.
As an assignment for a public radio station I volunteered at, my partner and I were assigned to get sound bites. The Ralph’s in Downtown L.A. was featuring Homegirl Industries mango salsa in their deli section (Hirsch, 2009). Currently, I work for a non-profit organization based out of Virginia called, Youth Matter, Inc. I have been a part of this non-profit for the past nine years. My involvement started by competing in their oratorical competitions and then becoming a volunteer. In 2013, I was selected to serve a year as their Youth Matter Inc. National Spokesperson. This past July I was selected to be on the board of directors and I am currently still serving. This organization has a committed CEO/Founder who has served as a mentor in my life. The purpose of the organization is to offer a home for the homeless and take care of single mothers, children, the disabled as well as give quality education to those in need. The organization strives to provide shelter, clothing and financial aid through jobs to the needy people in the society.
My Not-for-Profit organization is called Leave the Green to Us. Leave the Green to Us is an organization that involves lawn care. It supports the elderly and the people that are disabled. What does it do you may asked, it helps the elderly and disabled to assist them in their home property. They do a lot of lawn cutting, planting flowers, fertilizing grass, trimming bushes and trees. Our mission statement is: We share the care and lend a helping hand. Any age can come in and help, our organization is made up of students and adults who are eager to help. My personal role in Leave the Green to Us is to organize the volunteers and to provide the services needed for each customer. I also organize the fund raisers and meet with all of the customers
Throughout my life I have volunteered for a few organizations. During my underclassmen years I volunteered at Seven Bridges Ranch throughout my summers. My responsibilities included taking care of all their horses, which meant, feeding, watering, grooming, exercising, etc. I was also kept up with some of the simple yard keep. Another great organization I volunteer for is called, 15 Forever Community Foundation. This is a foundation that gives 15,000 dollars to non-profit organizations. I have been doing this for three years, and the board members and I discuss what we want our funding focus is for the year, and then read each application, and decide who is best fit to receive the money. I enjoyed reading Chapter 11 especially what the author writes on page 281 as it summarizes the importance of a message. It keys on the relevance of accessibility, accountability, education, interaction, and empowerment. I think that is the key element of fundraising. I also believe that from a theory to reality there are some gaps. Nonprofits are often under tremendous pressure to perform with very little resources. Some nonprofits can navigate the process successfully and grow, while others do not.
In the modern fear of inflation and taxes a huge concern arises by allowing millions of dollars of taxes remain uncollected by religious exempt property (Hageman 405). Many wonder why they are forced to pay the tax burden when religious organizations could easily lessen the economic burden. Nonprofit property in all 50 states are exempt and this creates problems for assessors and tax departments. Assessors must determine if the activities of the non-profit organization like churches are providing a sufficient amount of charitable care. In a 2011 survey done among assessors by the Center for Business and Economic Researches, 96% of assessors say churches will become tax exempt after an evaluation.
Stakeholders play a critical role in the management and decision-making process of an organization. An example of a stakeholder includes employees, managers, patients, vendors, suppliers, the community, creditors, customers and the government (Daft, 2013). Also, Daft (2013) says, “Stakeholders are groups “within or outside of the organization that has a stake in the organization’s performance” (p. 23). There are a few differences surrounding stakeholder expectations between non-profit and for-profit organizations. The differences in nonprofit organizations and for-profit business organizations are the direction of activities for the end goal (Daft, 2013). Although it is very difficult to measure the impact that a nonprofit has on society, community, or a particular group as opposed to evaluating an income statement from a for-pro-profit organization. The same level of attention should be paid to stakeholder for nonprofit organizations as stakeholders of for-profit organizations.

It is vital to recognize volunteers within the organization but also to acknowledge their accomplishments within the community.
