Outlining My Profession
Health care administration is a very important and crucial role in today’s healthcare system. With an ever-changing national health care system, the role of a Health care Administrator or Healthcare Executive more than ever is needed. Healthcare facilities, organizations, and or offices rely on health care administrators to plan, direct and coordinate all medical health services (United States Department of Labor , 2014). Some areas where one might find administrators are managing entire medical facilities, specialized clinical departments, or a medical practice for a group of physicians (United States Department of Labor , 2014). The need for high-quality health care administers is more now than ever with the fast-changing health care laws.
Administrators must be able to learn and lead when regulations and laws change so that the medical organizations they lead are in legal working order. Finance management of costs for the facility and patient billing to creating work schedules are just a few of the duties and administrator is found doing on a daily basis (O*Net Sites, 2015). It is standard for an administrator to spend part of his or her time communicating with physicians and staff. Evaluating staff procedures along with quality assurance helps keep medical facilities within safety guidelines so patients get the best care possible (O*Net Sites, 2015). This being said this profession carries a lot of responsibility to those they lead but also to
I was nine years old when my family made the stannous decision to come to America; with only a few clothes and barely any money, the pursuit of the American dream seemed more like a fantasy than anything else. Ever since I was young, I was drawn to the medical field. Looking back, it all appears as a nightmare now: a cold room, no electricity, and my parents imploring for the nurses help. Yet this nightmare was my firsthand experience at the detrimental effects of a limited healthcare. Growing up in a poor town of Albania, I faced minor health concerns, but it wasn’t until I got sick with a common cold that my life almost ended. The unsanitary hospital condition and the lack of medications were part of the sad reality I could not escape from. Thus today, it is my goal to make a significant contribution to the health of the future generations. My passion for the medical field combined with my determination on building and perpetuating an outstanding healthcare service, has lead me to pursue a master’s degree in Health Administration

Healthcare management is a great, complex, and dynamic field. Like any business, healthcare requires exceptional administration to keeps its operations effective and smooth. Notably, the healthcare field is constantly growing, calling for the expertise of skilled administrators with the capacity to manage hospitals. Since my childhood, I have enjoyed solving problems, helping people, caring about the community and individuals, and having an excellent compensation and growth opportunities.
But to my disbelief during my public health research projects the results were contradictory. Most of the patients we surveyed were not satisfied with the medical/dental services and the reason for that dissatisfaction was not quality of clinical services it was administrative work and the increased cost of the medical/dental services. It became a dinner topic for my brother and me who being a doctor shared the same concerns. We attended conferences, seminars holistically researched on the topic of improving quality of healthcare and every time the answer came out to be effective administration skills, effective use of information technology. This answer laid the seeds of healthcare administration as a career for me. I joined a premier healthcare institution as an administration intern and with my hard work secured a position as business analyst with them.
With the expected growth in the allied health sector in the coming years due to increased patient care demands, healthcare organizations in the United State will need to take steps to maintain a high quality of care. These steps will include ways to ensure that well trained staff are hired, adequate new staff on the job training and orientation, continuous review of policies for improvements in safety, care, risk management and quality assurance. In addition to focusing on the integration of the incoming allied health personnel, healthcare organizations are expected to review how care is currently provided, and find new ways to provide care and meet the great increase in demand for care.
As a health care administrator there are many challenges that have to be faced. Health care administrators have to deal with a very demanding career with all things health care on a constant change. The changing of health care with new developments is what causes health care administrators to have such a tough job. They have to make sure that they stay up to date on the changes happening. The main two challenges that I think will be faced is communication to employees and staying up to date with trending health care issues.
Wow Hospital (WH) managers also called healthcare executives or healthcare administrators, plan, direct, analysis and coordinate medical and health services. People see hospitals as a place where one goes for healing and medical care, but hospitals are businesses that healthcare administrators have the responsibility of maintaining. Healthcare administrators’ responsibilities include many aspects related to patient care.
