The board meeting was well run. The atmosphere was positive, supportive, inspiring and respectful. As you entered the boardroom, a table was set up with a sign-in sheet, agendas, handouts, and blue cards. The blue cards were for the public. If they desired to address the board concerning an agenda item, they must fill it out and submit it to the secretary. All board members/trustees, Interim superintendent, assistant superintendents, executive assistant, and the principals were in attendance. Although, the vice principal for Sunny Hills was proxy for the principal and the student board member was not present at the meeting. Barbara Kilponen started the meeting with a positive recognition of Ken Stichter who had come back out of retirement to act as the Interim Superintendent. She was very thankful for the six months of keeping the rudder steady Ken Stichter was very appreciative at the opportunity to become the Interim Superintendent, and he couldn’t think of a better way to cap stone his career. He also made the point to thank each of the board members and the principals. This appreciation then shifted towards the welcoming of Dr. Scambray as the new district superintendent, and Dr. Scambray had the opportunity to introduce his family. In sustaining the positive environment, each principal was given the opportunity to boast about how each of the high schools completed the school year. Additionally, some spring athletes from each of the high schools, and the Science
To close off the installation ceremony, Ms. Fern Bren, the Assistant Principal of Pupil Personnel Services, gave a moving speech to all the students and thanked everyone for coming and thanked Ms. Filomena Daniels, the Arista/Archon Coordinator and even gave her a bouquet of flowers. The students then stood up filed out the auditorium towards the refreshments which included small wraps, brownies, cookies, and water.
The meeting agenda included a call to order, roll call, reading of the call, pledge of allegiance, some recognition of county members for service, announcements, and a time for public comment. This happened all within the first twenty minutes of the beginning of the meeting. Then the meeting switched over into having a few appearances, talking about department reports, resolutions in the county, ordinances, annual
The Board President called the meeting to order, and the board secretary did the roll call. The agenda was comprised of various reports and the secretary would go though each agenda item, beginning with the board secretary’s report, finance, personnel, listing of approvals for salaries that included names of staff/faculty, retirements, leave of absences, bills, travel, field trips, etc.
At the beginning of the meeting the board members had to vote on the school districts’ participation of different activities. They all had to vote on whether they agreed to have Red Ribbon Week on October 23, 2017 through October 31, 2017, they also voted on whether the entire school district was going to partake in the Great California ShakeOut
The formality of honoring both new members of the board and newly hired teachers was surprising to me. Swearing in three new board members, the electies proudly posed for a picture with their family members. Afterwards, the meeting turned to honoring the new county teachers. I was surprised that
However, ready to take on the new challenges and devote her time and talents in her new role, Mullion said, “I am looking forward to becoming even more involved and working with our new superintendent. I think he is a real asset to our district.”

Vice principal Patricia Watersone will take over all responsibilities that were Simmons’s and will be the stand in Principal for the school. Waterstone will have to run the Student Body elections, prepare for the summer school schedule, and oversee the hiring of new teachers for the upcoming school year. This will be the first time Waterstone has had official duties as the principal.
For this online course, I was required to attend and observe a school board meeting. I completed my requirement on Monday May 23rd, 2016 at the Clearfield Area Board of School Directors Regular Meeting from 6:00 pm until 9:15 pm. The current Clearfield Area School Board is composed of five male and four female members. The five male members of this school board are: Mr. Larry A. Putt, Mr. Phillip E. Carr, Mr. Tim N. Morgan, Mr. Randy Pataky, and Dr. Michael Spencer. The four female members of this school board include: Mrs. Mary Anne Jackson, Mrs. Susan E. Mikesell, Mrs. Gail Ralston, and Mrs. Jennifer Wallace.
One of the speakers at the school board meeting was Laura Root. Her job was to name all of the funds spent and made by the school district, which took longer than most other things that happened during the meeting. Dan Aaker mentioned all the sports teams and how they did to the board, and addressed the fact that the football team is getting new white jerseys. Brian Naasz talked about the elementary-school and about adding a shower to it for handicapped students. Gerald Witte talked about the high-school; mentioning the upcoming prom. The board later approved a calendar and acknowledged resignations.
If the rules are not followed, then that individual(s) can be escorted from the building. The president read the names of those who seek to voice their opinions but no one showed up, so the meeting continued with the next agenda task. The Citizens’ Hearing: One citizen spoke about the scrutiny that the Tupelo Police Department is facing regarding multiple acts racial discrimination done by their department. The meeting closed with remarks from each member for last minute remarks, if there were no remarks then the meeting was adjourned until the next the business session. The meeting lasted about an hour and I got a chance to speak with Councilwoman Nettie Davis over Ward four. She explained her purpose for being on the board, which includes bringing much needed resources to her historically black community, cleaned up the parks in the area and she wants to make sure their community is fairly treated as the rest of the Tupelo
On July 25,2016, I attended the Kilgore Independent School Board meeting. I noticed that besides the board members there were not very many people in attendance. There were two students, myself included, a former KISD students father talking about the FFA, five faculty members, and a reporter. I was not sure what to expect at this meeting since I had never attended one before and unfortunately I do not think that I would ever willingly attend another, unless it was relevant to my child.
Our Principal at Peoria Notre Dame High School allows change. My grade school principal hadn’t changed a thing, during my time in grade school. Mr. Simmons brought new traditions to school. For example, recognizing all the sports and clubs after school mass for their accomplishments. He hired new and younger faculty members, to create a better environment for young people.
The board members that were present were Shanlee McNally, Sue Flynn, Andrea Sparks, and Lyle Schmitt. Also in attendance was President of the Board, Mike Young, Vice-president, Bernice Richard, Superintendent, Dr. Gary Norris, Executive Director of School & Community Relations/Board Secretary, Sharon Miller, Chief Financial Officer/Board Treasurer, Michael Coughlin, Assistant
Hector Belen Jr., district superintendent, and his staff as they minister to pastors and churches. Pray that they can establish a harmonized working relationship among district staff in accordance with the superintendent’s vision for the district.
