The project focuses on the cost effective enhancement of enterprise network security via OpenFlow controlled switches and specialized SDN applications running on a controller. The project will investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented over SDN. 3. Objectives of Proposed Work The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day technologies. 1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service attacks. 2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will enable more options to enhance the security. The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology. By implementing security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service, Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to configure all the networking equipment separately with the required security measures. On top of that. if
Networking is part of our everyday lives now. Weather is us using our phones, computer, using GPS for directions, watching 3D movies and TV’s or in our work environments. Network Security has become search a big issue since our day to day live started to be more involve with us. These problems involve in all type of shapes and forms where some of these issues are cyber attacks, physical attacks, or abuse of policies. People are really exposed due to the amount of internet activities we have going on in most of our networks. There are two fundamentally different when it comes to networking, the data networks and the synchronous network comprised of switches. With that being said there are also
In this modern day and age of computing, networks are a huge part of IT. It is important now more than ever that data sent over any network, whether it be a LAN (Local Area Network) or WAN (Wide Area Network; The Internet) is kept safe, private (when required) and uninterrupted in
Identify hardware and software needed to secure your choice of networks against all electronic threats.
Providing safety & security for the device from MAC flooding and Network spoofing by designing and implementing security & safety mechanisms which are essential for Network design.
Security is almost certainly the most difficult aspect of a network to perfect. It is important to have the correct procedures and components in place to make certain network security is being accounted for and addressed on any given network. The journal, “Future Generation Computer Systems” elaborates on this necessity for an information system. “Future Generation Computer Systems”, this component of a network is discussed thoroughly. “Essentially securing an Information System (IS), involves identifying unique threats and challenges which need to be addressed by implementing the appropriate countermeasures” (Dimitrios Zissis, Dimitrios Lekkas, 2012). This was achieved through configuring access lists as well as CHAP configuration on the routers connecting to the edge
5. What are the three primary methods for implementing security on this network, as well as the advantages and disadvantages each?
Undoubtedly, this paper will generate network information, diagrams, and/or tables; accordingly, these are all included in the Appendix section of the paper. Moreover, the training, vulnerability assessment, and SAQ results are also included as an Appendix in the final paper. Finally, fearing disclosure of proprietary information that could compromise network security, all project data are scrubbed and sanitized to remove sensitive information.
Firewalls are set up on computers to help protect computers and other devices from attacks from potentially harmful websites and other resources. Proxies are servers that act as a middle man for computers. They allow users to make indirect connections to other servers. The LAN-to-WAN domain is where the infrastructure connects to the Internet. Updates, firewalls and proxies will help to keep things running and help to keep it protected.

Network security has changed significantly over the past years. There is more and more data to monitor and analyze in order to detect the activity of your data and systems. Securing a network has many variables. Password authentication, network access, patches, anti-virus protection, intrusion detection, firewall and network monitoring tools are just a few of the things you can do to protect yourself.
The firewall provides protections against network intrusions by hosting intrusion prevention system modules to detect and prevent traffic that would disrupt the normal operations of the company. These security features will be configured to offer the greatest protection while allowing Pathways Industries personnel and their partners efficient access to the

Software defined networking is a new concept that redefined the current network device architecture and the way they behave. Due to the exponential growth of the Internet and services attached to this worldwide infrastructure, a number of issues have cropped up in modern day networks. This paper discusses a few of these limitations and how the software defined networking approach tries to alleviate them. OpenFlow, released in the year 2008, is a commercially viable implementation of this concept that is being well received by the networking industry at large. The paper also discusses the OpenFlow protocol, its implementation and the challenges facing its widespread acceptance
This case study is a practical application of all of the knowledge you have acquired from your courses in the networking curriculum over the past two years. It will allow you to demonstrate both your knowledge and experience in networking both academically and hands-on. It will also allow you to draw on what you have learned as you worked your way through the online Microsoft IT Academy Security course. It is intended to be used as first a mid-term examination and then will also be continued as your end of class project and final exam. It presents a thorough review of concepts and applications presented in courses you have taken while at JSRCC. To complete this case study, read the scenario below and
When it comes to networking and the security of networks, there are several different methods of protecting networks. Of these differing methods, some of them sound similar, but provide differing levels of security. In the following paragraphs, I will try to explain the differences between some of the methods used.
