It was the 2012 US Open. Pete Weber needed three strikes to win the title against Mike Fagan. He threw his first shot, a strike. He knocked down all ten pins for the first strike. He throws another great shot, and another strike up on the scoreboard for Weber. He needs one more strike to win. How will he do it? From the foul line to the dots is 6 ft. The distance from the foul line to the arrows is 15 ft. The length from the foul line to the pins is 60 ft. There are many different types of lane surfaces- wood, synthetic, guardian, and lane shield. A wood lane with a water based finish is very soft and will have lots of friction. A wood lane with an epoxy urethane finish is a bit harder than a wood lane with a water based finish, but still will have a lot of friction. On a lane with a wood overlay, also known as guardian and lane shield, there is a lot of friction with early backend reaction. The most popular synthetic lane is a Brunswick Pro-Anvilane. It is the hardest surface and has less friction. You can use more aggressive equipment, such as a Marvel S and Crux without the ball rolling too early. These lanes also have four range finders on the
