Abstract: This paper will look at the work market for truck drivers in the United States. The effects of a shortage and/or surplus of drivers and how the work market effects the country's economy, and the workers way of life will be broken down. This paper will look at how adding more jobs to this career also effects the supply and demand of goods, problems of finding qualified workers, and the chances of an individual getting a job with others competing for the same job.

Something else more experienced drivers are worried about. “10 years ago I loved driving, now I am scared to drive down the block,” says James about the influx of new drivers in the industry, a driver for Digby Southwest, a trucking company based out of Tucson, AZ. James has refused to divulge his last name.
Conclusion
In conclusion, to have a healthy economy, goods must be moved to be bought. The trucking industry has been a leading factor in moving goods since the 1900's. Without it, the United States will die in a minimum of 3 days. As for my thoughts on the matter, I believe the government needs to start deregulating this industry. Many veteran drivers are in their retirement years and we will need an influx of new drivers to take the helm. But unfortunately, many of these new drivers are leaving the industry because they cannot handle the pressure put on them by the government. The American highways are the safest they have ever been, so we need to stop thinking about how safe we can make the roads, and start thinking about how we can keep these guys in the industry.

Due to the large quantity of freight and the long distance that it must travel to arrive to its destination exporters and importers alike have found logistic service providers essential to engage in international trade (Rodriguez, Comtois, Slack, 2013). While some Logistics service providers focus only on the area of transportation others specialize in freight consolidation, distribution management, and warehousing (Robinson, 2014). They have enough market knowledge, information and communication systems to offer supply chain solutions tailored to the specific needs of any company be it small or large (Rodriguez, Comtois, Slack,

Logistics is a vital component of supply chain management. Both involve the planning, carrying out and management of goods, services and information from the point of origin to the point of consumption. Logistics aligns the multifaceted pattern of traffic and transportation, shipping and receiving, import and export operations, warehousing, inventory management, purchasing, production planning and customer service. Organizations, like the one I work for, see logistics as a critical design of the supply chain. When organizations incorporate logistics as a key component of the business plan, they can use it to manage, coordinate and monitor resources needed to move products in a smooth, timely, cost effective and reliable manner.
With the global market becoming more connected and competitive, the United States supply chain needs to constantly evolve to survive. Advancing technology and E-Commerce allow customers to order products from literally anywhere in the world, resulting in a sudden emergence of strong global competition. To compete America needs to be able to provide the same goods faster and more efficient that their competitors. However many improvements in every branch of the American transportation supply chain including infrastructure and logistics need to be made in to achieve this. One practice that is becoming more essential to compete in the growing global market is intermodal freight transportation.
Transportation and logistics coordinate the movement of goods and people. The transportation and logistics industry is the catalyst that propels the American economy. However, it works both ways. Economic pressures on the national, regional, and local levels affect decisions and policies made by logistics managers. This paper will explore the intricate relationship between the United States economy and Transportation and Logistics management.

There are many challenges being faced by the logistics industry today as the companies strive for sustainability. This is because the providers of logistics services have, over a period of several years, found them being integrated into the production processes of their customers, while at the same time, governments and businesses have continued to carefully weigh the issue of logistics in their investment and business decisions. Some of the previous trends and the forces of the operations of logistics that drive the transformation of a Freight forwarding company will be examined. It will focus on theories, conceptual models and frameworks that explain logistic operations. The gaps in the logistics operations and the dangers of not addressing

Every driver in Texas should know what the differences that they are paying for the transportation system being underfunded and well-funded. Currently households are investing $232 per year, which comes out costing drivers $6,095 in total vehicle use and maintenance cost. If drivers invest an additional $279 reduces total vehicle cost to $4,228 and saves them $1,558. An additional $402 more each year will also cut their cost to $3,652 and save them $2,041. So raising highway investments will save drivers money in the long run. Drivers all know that vehicle
The last few years has witnessed a renewed interest in the logistics for both scholars and the commerce industry. The development can be attributed to a number of factors, but the most prominent is the realization by the commerce professionals and scholars of the significant levels of efficiency achievable through effective planning, management, and control of operation processes across the supply chain. Information technology has also contributed to the growing attraction to the field of logistics. Advances in IT have made it possible for organizations to integrate sophisticated decision making systems in their operation processes. The systems have simplified monitoring processes across the chain supply, collection of information, and control of business strategies.
For those that love to get behind the wheel and take to the open roads, did you know that there is a wide range of jobs that you can do this? For many, the thought of being stuck behind a desk or computer is not entirely riveting. Some people love the idea of taking to the road. What is more, being behind the steering wheel means that you don’t have to work with others on a regular basis. Some people love to work alone. This is not a criticism. I’m sure there are times that we all wished that we could work independently. For some, a career in driving is just what the doctor ordered.
