On the rainy Wednesday I learned that when there is bad weather the park has three options for running operations. Option #1 is that Tweetsie is run as normal and the show goes on as usual. Option #2 is running at half capacity, which means that only Main Street and the train will operate. All of the rides stop running and none of the shows take place during operating hours. Finally, Tweetsie has the option of just running train rides and closing all other aspects of the park. If this happens we let people in for free because all they would be able to do is ride the train. In the recent history of Tweetsie they’ve only closed twice and run a half-day once, so it’s common to keep the park open despite nasty weather. I also learned not to get my hopes up that I wouldn’t have to go into work if it’s raining in the morning! …show more content…
This includes cleaning, stocking brochures, filing reports, and making sure that we open on time. I’ve also been helping with large groups that enter the park via group sales. Groups have a different way of entering the park and paying so I’ve been watching and learning that process over the past week. Also, I count unlimited food and drink armbands in order to make sure that each group has enough of what they ordered and get that completed before they arrive. My boss also showed me how to count out cash registers for final close and all of the reports you have to run in order to send a bag to audit. I’m sure that next week she’ll let me practice by counting out other bags and I’m looking forward to learning another
Yes I do think the Comcast care on twitter help customers service because they are connecting with their customers. They are using twitter to reach out to the customers I think that is a great idea because that shows that they care about their customers service. Comcast is a pretty good company because they are willing to help out people when they are having problem with their cable or anything. My family use Comcast because they are always there to help us out with whatever we need. So I don’t think Comcast using twitter to connect with their customers is a bad thing. I feel like it actually help them because now days everyone is using social media to buy things and to get information on something that they need. So with Comcast using twitter that actually going to help their company grow more and more because now a day a lot of people are on twitter. I don’t see other applications for Twitter for a communications giant like
In the article “I Tweet, Therefore I Am,” author Peggy Orenstein criticizes the problems associated to the distractions of social media sites such as Twitter. The author introduces her article by describing her relaxing Sunday morning with her daughter. The author then quickly recounts her sense of urge to compress her beautiful day into a tweet, acknowledging that her “consciousness had spin off and was observing the scene from the outside… [her] perfect oppurtunity to tweet.” Living in a fast-paced world like today, many people can agree that what we decide to share is ultimately determined by our fantasies of what we think people should see, know and hear for the
To begin with, globalization has furthered accessibility(SA1) to other groups and causes in many way. In Ariela Garvett essay “Tweets and Transitions: How the Arab Spring Reaffirms the Internet’s Democratizing Potential” Garvett argues that “as reflected in the recent political upheavals in North Africa and the Middle East, the internet is a potentially egalitarian and boundary-less structure...(174)
Proclaimed as the hottest company since Google and Facebook, Twitter introduced a revolutionary micro-blogging service in 2006 that allowed users to spread and share short messages of 140 characters (“tweets”) with friends and strangers subscribing to follow their communication flow (as so called “followers”) in order to find out what is happening right now from any point of the globe.
Social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) offers infinite connections and the ability to express oneself to the world. But are these connections and images of self-based upon fact or fiction? Through selective self-presentation, people often present the “ideal self” instead of the “actual self” in the online environment to achieve the feeling of positive self-esteem. In “The Way We Live Now: I Tweet, Therefore I Am”, Peggy Orenstein writes of how her Twitter posts reflected an idealized version of her life. Two studies support the hypothesis that such editing can have a positive effect on personal self-esteem. “Mirror, Mirror on my Facebook Wall: Effects of Exposure to Facebook on Self-Esteem” by Amy Gonzales presents a study demonstrating
Peggy Orenstein in the article “I Tweet, Therefore I Am” (2010), featured in the New York Times asserts that people should not tweet for their followers but tweet for themselves; that we should not analyze our everyday actions due to how we would want our lives to be perceived by others. Peggy Orenstein supports her argument with rhetorical questions, statistics, and personal experiences. Her purpose was to ultimately convince the readers to think less about what your social media followers want to hear, and more about what you want to say. Orenstein writes in an empathetic tone most likely intended for people like herself, people who are realizing how social can make differentiating your person and persona difficult; however, it also reaches
During the summer, I am a Basketball Camp Coordinate at the YMCA for children who are in Kindergarten to 8th grade. For the camp, I am in charge of how the day goes with certain goals from my boss. (Also, I assist with Lacrosse and sometimes Day Camps)
In the 21st century if the revolution is not tweeted, is it still a revolution? Many say the revolution will not be televised but it will be tweeted. In “Small Change: Why the Revolution Will Not Be Tweeted,” by Malcolm Gladwell, he provides us with an argument on how social media has an impact on activism. Gladwell discusses how social media will not spur the next revolution because it has changed the way protests form. The protests went from small, high-risk acts formed by people whose purpose was close to their heart to a low-risk act with an enormous amount of people who may hardly know each other. Although interesting, Gladwell’s article fails to prove today’s revolution will not be tweeted.
Over the past few months, but especially in recent days with the inauguration of president elect Donald J. Trump rapidly approaching, many of us students have begun to question our safety and our leadership’s concern for our safety on this campus, as have our families back home. When individuals no longer feel a sense of personal safety, academics and academic performance can no longer be a priority. Discrimination based on bias can escalate beyond rhetoric and into acts of violence. History has proven to be a solid reference.
From Tweeter: Is it too much to say that "the problem of refugees has caused the dilution of the nation's main body"?
To the average technologically advanced American, Twitter is one of the most visited social media sites. From a popularity contest standpoint, Twitter would be amongst the top winners; however, when evaluating Twitter from a business analytical aspect it might not be a lucrative business venture. The attractive attribute to Twitter Inc. is the fact the sites does not make any of its users pay. Twitter is designed to allow users to voice multiple thoughts, ideas, or share different information amongst the site’s visitor. Unlike Facebook, Twitters does not have multi-million dollar corporations using the site on a regular basis to market more potential users. Therefore, with a low revenue base and poor strategic development implementation
In our society, social networking has become very popular over the last 5 years. Twitter is a social networking site that allows users to become “followers” of other people and stay informed about current events and social trends. Many argue whether or not these social websites such as Twitter, are good for society. In two articles about Twitter, the authors present different arguments about why Twitter is good or bad for society. The author of “Heading off disaster, one Tweet at a time” by Jim Spellman, states that Twitter is a good way of communicating current events happening around the world. The other article, “Is Twitter Bad for National Security?” by Tony Bradley, argues that Twitter could have dangerous effects on our nation’s

Twitter allows its users to keep their friends and family informed of their current status. Twitter first began in 2008 as a small project; but now
My generation has grown up with technology in our hands since we were toddlers. We are dependent on technology, from Iphones, Laptops, tablets, ipods, even watches that keep us connected to a never ending supply of distant connection. Social media is the source of many problems in our society. One of the problems is the lack of communication in a relationship. One misconception about social media is that it has the ability to strengthen a relationship because you have another avenue of communication when in fact it is detrimental, due to lack of intimate interaction between two people. Social media not only takes away face to face interactions, but it leads to trust issues, cheating and a lack of confrontation.
