People have different ways to raise children, and there is clearly a difference between the Western and Chinese mothers. It’s clearly that it’s because of their cultures, that they have dissimilar ways to raise children. One of the discussable topics of how to raise children is to see the differences between the Chinese and Western way, which Amy Chua writes about in an article in The Wall Street Journal. The article “Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior” is published in the newspaper The Wall Street Journal on January 8th 2011. Amy Chua writes about the recent topics, in the Western, about the Asian mothers and how they raise their children, and her way of achieving attention she uses “Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior” as a headline to make a controversy among the Westerners. As she mentions that Chinese parents spends approximately 10 times as long every day drilling with academic activities with their children, then the Western parents, can cause problematic of clash of cultures. Chinese way of learning is to practice many times a day, and that usually takes a lot of their children’s time to be social with their friends, but they have priorities that comes first which is perfection “Tenacious practice, practice, practice is crucial for excellence; rote repetition is underrated in America” compared to the Western time for being social is their highest priority “Western kids are more likely to participate in sports teams” This can create a difficult social gap between the children and cultures.
