Explanation of Solution
Minerals are the inorganic ions that are released through the dissociation of the electrolytes. The minerals have three important roles in the metabolic pathway. Vitamins are the organic compounds that are required only in very minute quantities. They play an important role in a particular metabolic pathway by serving as coenzymes.
In general, the body does not have the ability to synthesize the required minerals and vitamins on its own and could be acquired only through the diet. Hence, the vitamins and minerals are considered to be the essential components of the diet.
