The merits of a flow out process for
Concept introduction:
Le Chatelier principle states that a system at equilibrium when subjected to changes in the system adjusts it self to attain the equilibrium state again.
Answer to Problem 85A
The flow out process is a better and more economical option than batch process because in batch process the reactants are not completely used as the reaction is reversible. So there is wastage in separating the reactants from the products in every batch which is less efficient as compared to flow out process.
Explanation of Solution
In the flow out process, the reaction mixture will not be able to attain a stable equilibrium point due to the continuous removal of products and addition of reactants. These two processes shift the equilibrium to the right according to Le Chatelier principle and increase the
Flow out process is better than the batch process for a reversible reaction due to the above stated merits.
