Millwork can be defined as a finished product drawn out of or trimmed from different materials. The materials generally included in millwork are wood, plastic, and ceramic. Millwork can be either used for decorative or functional purposes or even both.

In the case of wood, the final product is obtained through the milling process in which a rotating cutting tool trims the piece of wood. In the case of plastic and ceramic, the millwork is either extruded or molded into a specified shape. In the process of extrusion, the material is pressed with high pressure with a mold of the desired shape.
