Concept introduction:
Commonly the force applied per unit area of a surface at right angles is termed as pressure. The pressure is commonly denoted as ‘P’.
P = F / A
P = Pressure of the system
F = Force acting on the system
A = Area of the system
When the gas molecules are in rapid movement, they collide with each other and they collide with the walls of the container. Thus, the gas molecules is termed to be in some pressure values. The common factors that controls pressure of the gas molecule is volume, temperature, and number of moles of gas. Pressure is having the inverse relationship with volume since the volume of gas decreases as the pressure of gas increases. Moreover, pressure of the gas is directly proportional to the number of gas molecules. More the number of gas molecules higher will be the pressure. Similarly increasing the temperature of the gas system will increase the pressure of the gas since it leads the rapid collision of the molecules on the walls of the container.
