Introduction:

Suture (sutura, a sewing together) is a fibrous connective tissue that is only found between the bones of the skull. The human skull contains 20 sutures that join 40 bones. There are five types of suture found in human skull. These are lambdoid suture, sagittal suture, coronal suture, squamous suture, and frontonasal suture.

Explanation of Solution

Suture is a fibrous synarthrotic joint that articulates with the bones of the skull and serves as a boundary between the skull bones. Suture grants compliance and elasticity to the skull by allowing very small movement. This is considered as an unossified remains of embryonic mesenchyma, which is responsible for the bone development. During birth, many bones of the skull remain unfused, but after birth, these bones fuse together. This is called craniosynostosis. Suture joints these bones together to form the skull.

Conclusion

Therefore, it can be concluded that the suture can be correctly matched with option (b) boundary between skull bones.
