Locks:

In order to avoid accessing the content or obtaining the copies of the same rows or table by multiple applications, a technique called resource locking is used to overcome this problem.

Resource locking is technique which prevents the concurrent processing problems which blocks the sharing of resources or databy locking the resources or data.

There are two types of lock available to prevent concurrent processing problems:

  • Explicit Locks - The locks which are performed by the DBMS are called implicit locks.
  • Implicit Locks - The locks which are performed by command are called as explicit locks
