A Conceptual Theoretical Structure ( Cte ) Evaluation

Good Essays

This paper is a Conceptual-Theoretical Structure (CTE) Evaluation. This paper will focus on the evaluation of the conceptual-theoretical-empirical linkages, evaluation of the selected theory, evaluation of the empirical indicators, evaluation of research findings, evaluation of the utility and soundness of the practice theory. Selected Theory Applied to Nursing Practice Using Actual Example Kristen M. Swanson’s Caring Theory is the solution in bridging the gap between nursing practice and theory. It offers an explanation of the links between patient well-being and the caring process (Tonges & Ray, 2011). Swanson explained that nurses should be able to demonstrate that they care about their patients, and that caring about their wellbeing is as important as their patients’ current medical problem (Tonges & Ray, 2011). A loss of a loved one, especially a child, is a painful event, and devastating to any parent, therefore, it is important to have a strong support system to obtain strength, peace, and comfort. Grief is a process that could not be hurried, and must be permitted to happen ("Grief of Parents," 2005). Grief could be experienced not just through a loss of a loved one, but also in a diagnosis of debilitating disease, or even the loss of a limb. During these difficult times, Swanson’s Caring Theory could be applied. Evaluation of CTE Linkages Swanson’s middle-range theory, Caring Theory, was derived from Watson’s grand theory of Human Caring (Chen & Chou, 2010). Jean
